So I just came back from a two week trip with my family across the continent. Since I arrived home I realized something: Every single one of my friends is gone. I am not kidding. They are all dispersed around the globe while I am the only one at home. I have about 2 weeks to kill before anyone of them gets back.

My xbox is in storage and all I have is my macbook. Yay.

Escapists, what do you do to avoid tremendous boredom with no money?

Go to tvtropes.org. When your browser crashes due to an overload of tabs open, you'll notice that 12 hours have passed. Repeat until friends return.

Buy a pc and get some games?

Or if you want to keep your macbook you could buy some of the mac releases on steam, I think you can get the 21 day eve trial on a mac = ?

Or just go here www.armorgames.com (admittedly thats more of a *kill a few hours* solution).

These probably won't last two weeks, but here are some bits of software every mac should have:

Read a good book? I always have at least 50 books sitting around my appartment, that I picked up expecting to read in the near future, and just never got around to. Certainly you must have at least one book lying around that you haven't read yet? If you don't, may I suggest my favorite book series of all time, Simon R. Green's Something From the Nightside and all of it's sequels? Granted, I guess getting it at a bookstore might cost you some money, and who's to say if a library might or might not actually have it. Still, if you can get a copy, it's the most fun you can possibly have while reading! Every time a new entry in the series comes out, I end up not being able to put it down.

If you've got friends to mooch from, a little bit of sweet leaf almost always leads to good times. If not, make friends with cooler people.

Go to Cracked.com and read their awesome articles. God knows how many hours I wasted on that site. =\

Same thing happened to me.

I'm fending it off by 4chan, TVtropes, and Cracked.

Though, mostly 4chan, since I got burnt out on cracked and IDK...Just forgot about tropes.

I went on TV tropes just now. I looked back at a clock and the "few minutes" had become half an hour, and I had 12 tabs open...

OT: Learn a musical instrument - you can sink so much time in learning a skill like that, if you want to. Obviously that's only for some people, but you can get a cheap guitar for about the price of one video game, and it's probably a more permanent thing than any game
