Hey all, I'm putting up one of the reviews I did recently for my local free paper, so i can see what people think of my writing style and if there's anything that comes to mind on how I could improve it.
Thanks.

Any of you out there know Tim Schafer? If you don?t know him and you consider yourself a gamer, give yourself a donk on the back of the head, because this guy had a hand in some of the best adventure games of all time.
He had a hand in Monkey Island, designed Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, and now, has presented us with Brütal Legend.

First things first, this game is a rarity, a game that heavily revolves around it?s music, but one that isn?t a Guitar Hero Clone; the Game world is heavily inspired by Heavy Metal Album Covers, and Mr. Schafer himself carefully picked out a massive Playlist of songs to be used in the game.

The game stars Eddie Riggs, who instantly upon speaking, you?ll probably notice straight off is Jack Black from the Band Tenacious D, as well as From School of Rock and Shallow Hal; Get used to these cameos, because there are ALOT!
Eddie is, as I remember hearing somewhere, ?The world?s best roadie working for the world?s worst metal band?, and during a freak Accident on-stage, Eddie accidentally gets some blood on his belt-buckle, which turns out to be magic, and transports him into a world of Heavy Metal.

The Combat in the game involves your Axe, which can cleave enemies in half easily, or your Guitar, which in the world of Rock, can shoot lightning and fire when played, and it is very smooth, allowing you to switch between either without skipping a beat.
The game also features a broad cast, with some hilarious Voice Acting from Metal Stars such as Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Rob Halford, and Lita Ford.

While our old friend, Mr. Sandbox Game, does return for the massive open world parts, none of it seems like a copy and pasted grass texture.
The world all has it?s own landmarks, from a giant wall made entirely out of Amps, to a massive German Cross sitting on a mountainside; there?s also the wildlife, which Consists of Raptor Elk, crosses between a wild Boar and a Motorbike, massive Firebreathing KISS-facepaint wearing monsters?starting to get a picture of how crazy and original this world is? Even Giant Stagelights come down to show you what way you have to go for your next objective!

However, there is a massive niggle in the game, in the form of the very frustrating Stage battles.
The Stage battles are essentially put, a poorly-done Real-time Strategy game done in third-person, with you sending your troops to destroy the Enemy Stage, while defending your own.
These parts, while inventive, feel incredibly cumbersome, and really pull you out of the game at times as you struggle to control your troops.
The sad part is that these parts are incredibly unnecessary?they could have made the game more about personally going in gung-ho with a few squadrons of troops to help you out, and ignored the base building, troop managing part, and it would have been much better!

Despite this, Brütal Legend is a good game, and will certainly bring out the Metal fan in you!

RATING: 7/10
A Facemelter of a game at times, but busts a string with the RTS Elements.

Seems rather laid back for an editorial piece. Avoid the idioms. I'd also say not to use the same phrase multiple times within a paragraph.

While the comma is a wonderful tool, don't abuse it.

Not bad, but you could have gone into more detail...
