Recently with the launch of Battlefield 4 people are getting very upset at EA/DICE for releasing a buggy game that occasionally crashes. Now, I agree that games should be released in a playable state and not have to rely on day one or week one patches to fix them, but my problem is when people complain about one games bugs/crashes, i.e battlefield 4, but accept and not complain about incredibly buggy games such as Skyrim.

Skyrim has been out for two years now and I still experience constant crashes with and without mods and this is a universal problem, everybody who plays an Elder Scrolls games just accepts that it will be buggy and crash constantly and never complain, even after years after release.

My question is why is there this double standard?

You're comparing apples with oranges.

For a start, Elder Scrolls has no multiplayer. Games with multiplayer tend to get more bug fixes than games without.

Secondly, Battlefield in a completely linear game, making it easier to pinpoint and fix bugs. Where-as, Elder Scrolls is a sandbox game, and it's notoriously difficult to iron out all the bugs in sandbox games.

Um... There isn't a double standard? Or have you missed the loads of people on here that complain about how buggy Bethesda games are, and the threads whenever a new one comes out about how horrible it is because of all the bugs?

Not that I can agree with Skyrim having loads of bugs years after its release. I have over 100 hours logged on the game since I got it last Christmas, I typically play it with around 15-20 mods running at once, and the game has only crashed on me twice. Not that I am denying you have had problems, mind you, it is just that I doubt it is nearly as universal a problem as you make it out to be.
