building an escapist Mythology

trying to build an fantacy lore or mythology.
just looking for gods, fantacy charters, mythic items, history events or creatures

just thought it would be cool to have our own lore

I'm not going to say that this is a bad idea, but for what purpose. Group world building is a lot of fun, but what do you mean by "our own lore"?
