So when Max Payne 3 released I was quite happy. Not because I wanted that game or anything like that but because they've said they might be doing something with Bully 2 afterwards, according to Doctor Wikipedia of course:
In November 2011, in an interview with Gamasutra, Rockstar executive Dan Houser revealed it may return to it for a sequel once Max Payne 3 is released. "Contrary to a lot of people, we like to take a little bit of time at the end of a game before starting a sequel, so we can wait for the excitement or disappointment and everything else of the experience to shake down and really see what we should do in the next game," he said. "So we knew that we didn't want to start doing the Bully sequel instantly at that second with those guys ? even though it is a property that, like Max, we adore and might come back to in the future. There was just no impetus to do that then. So we said, 'You can do Max, and then we will see what we can do with Bully."
While we are not sure what they have planned, we do have the power of speculation at our desposal. Right let's get started, shall we?
So what are some problems that Bully had that can be improved? What are some good features that should be kept or expanded on? How well can school life be depicted and played in a videogame? Should the open town be kept or should it just focus on the school?
Personally I feel the town should be downplayed but not completely phased out. I think they should really just focus on the school first more than anything.
Anyways, what sort of ideas do you guys have.

I hope they just keep it light hearted. Ever since Bully, Rockstar has been overly serious with their games to an annoying degree, and I would hate to see this happen to Bully 2, if in fact there's going to be one.

It's like Rockstar has now defined itself some artistic auteur, and any attempt at having good old fashion fun is now beneath them.

Gotta agree with Shinji to keep it light. Have tense moments and traditional Rockstar insane characters (hi, Gary) but no murder and death and shit.
Other than that... just refine the gameplay. Have a new story. Have an antagonist as cool as Gary was, and keep a bro like Russell in the game.

I played Bully some, never got around to finishing it. Anyways, I think Bully was pretty cool, but I don't know, I think I would have like a little more personalization. Girls can be bullies to you know!

Not to mention I think it would be cool if you could have more defining relationships with the people in the game. Getting to pick who your friends and enemies are instead of them just being placed before you, but then again that's just the opinion of someone who barely played the game, and you gotta think about game limitations and the like.

There was a girl bully; The head cheerleader.

I mean getting to play as. Mandy was just a character...unless I missed something where you get to play as her.

Rockstar generally sticks to the scruffy dude protagonist. I think with the first game they were also going for the classic mischievous, slingshot type bully that performs indian sunburns and titty twisters. The Dennis the Menace type character.

Though I wouldn't mind playing as like a bitchy cheerleader in the sequel that may or may not be. As long as the simple cartoony mindset of the original stays intact.

I want to be able to join a clique. I know Jimmy had friends and all, but I want to have a gang of goths behind me, or a bicycle gang to terrorise the town with.

Terms too. I want some holidays and exams to be able to skip.

I have a feeling that Rockstar may try and go with a "cyber-bullying" angle for this

Not for the entire game, but have it be a theme

We'll have to wait and see...

I got the impression that Jimmy was sort of forming his own clique of friends. I'm sure Rockstar would be able to make a more faction-based system work, but what I liked about the original was that Jimmy and Co kind of transcended the whole clique thing altogether.

Terms too. I want some holidays and exams to be able to skip.
That would be pretty sweet. Environmental changes would be cool, too.

OT:

Better minigames. I don't know about you guys, but, though I liked the way going to classes worked, the actual minigames you played were really annoying in execution. They had good ideas, but controlled like a drunken 18-wheeler.

Also, a more robust combat system. The fisticuffs worked fine in the original, but anything outside of that was pretty stiff and gimmicky. It'd be great to have thrown weapons and the like in addition to the solid melee combat.

I agree with Shinji. I'd like to keep the tone casual and light. As for something I hope they avoid, I really don't want to follow whats-his-name from Bully one to University. We don't necessarily have to go back to Bullworth but I really don't want to follow...Jimmy...? Also, I really hope they don't randomize classes again. I still have two photography classes to complete whereas all of my other classes have been done for a while.

I remember shop class being a huge pain in the ass. I can still barely get past that first QTE.

Seriously, what?! This is great news!! I might not like any GTA, but I like all other sandbox released by Rockstar (Bully, RDR, LANoire...)

Maybe it'd take place in a college? Sequel to the first Bully perhaps.
I wish we can make our own character this time around. I don't think Rockstar ever incorporate a create-a-character in their games, I love that feature.

This sounds like fun, she'd be kinda like Mama in Judge Dredd.
But I don't think Rockstar will ever make a female protagonist, sadly!

I would love to see a sequel. The first one was the reason to get a PS2 (being a only-pc guy before). The game turned out to be one of my favourites of the PS2-gen

Basically I would like not to fall asleep at 11pm every day. I would like to see that you just are somehow tired the next day (maybe make the QTEs in the classes more difficult or let him/her aim worse/ punch weaker)

Then I would love to see a direct sequel, because I would really like to see how Jimmy goes further through his life (though I would fear that they would just do a GTA game then)

I would like it to keep the style of the first game, so nobody actually dies, you just beat people up, you have a potato cannon and a slingshot etc.

Then I wouldn't mind a female character (that shouldn't even be a question, I just mentioned it, since it popped up in this thread already)

A good PC port (I later bought the PC port of the first game for 5 bucks and it was awful, I couldn't do any of the QTEs since the controls were all weird, it only got fixed when I got a xbox controller)

That's it for the moment I guess.

I really love Bully (or Canis Canem Edit, as it was called here), so this game would be an instant purchase/ preorder.

Captcha: Beyond me. I agree. It is beyond me too, as of why we never got a second part so far.

EDIT: Also I would like that we get an equally good soundtrack in the second part. Please

Biology was always the one that gave me conniptions. There was never enough time to do it unless you memorized what actions you had to do.

I would actually like to see Jimmy's kid have to go to Bullworth. It would be really cool to see how things turned out after the events of the first game, maybe have his son/daughter have to live up to his/her Dad's reputation around the school, being the most popular kid at the school and what not. Maybe even have some other character's offspring be there too, like Gary's or Pete's kids. I think that would be a good setup.

Doens't you help her and she stop being a ***** to you later on or this is another cheerleader I thinking about?

I would like something more like San Andreas did where you have mention of what happen in the other games and even some returning characters, but going it's on way for the most part.

Sorry I don't have the answer to that. As I said originally I never got very far into the game, so sorry I can't help.
