I don't think I'm a real fucked up person. I like to consider myself better than a lot of others, but thats not to say I'm a little jaded here and there. Most notable weirdness being that if I enjoy something, then later discover shitty people also enjoy it... I can't anymore. Even if I liked it a little, just the knowledge that assholes and retards also like it causes me to despise it.
The thought process it follows, I like to think, is: Man if this many assholes and retards like this thing I enjoy it must not be worth enjoying and actually very shitty.

I mean, this week I tard raged at a commercial that used a Cat Stevens song in it. Cat Stevens is dear to me, and shouldn't be used in a lame cellphone commercial, dammit.

Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Yes, yes I do. I'll usually spout off endlessly about products I truly believe in, until some idiot I know says he likes it too. Then I can't advertise it anymore, for fear that people will make the connection that he and I both like it, and therefore we hang.

Well, there's only thing that makes you truly unique: Your DNA. At least, that's what my highschool biology teacher said.

Hell, 6 billions people and rising chum! There's always a retard that diminish those little pleasures.

yes and no. I feel good if someone out there likes something I do, but if someone ruins it by pointing out the obvious and starts douching it up, no.

What makes these people "shitty"? Who are these "assholes" and "retards" you speak of? It kind of sounds like you're a little insecure.

Sorry for the rant.

But I sort of feel this way with Guitar Hero. As an actual guitar player, it especially bothers me. I've been listening to all those songs since I was in diapers, but then they put em in stupid plastic guitar game and suddenly all the mainstream people start listening to "Through the Fire and the Flames" and "One". Then they look at my iPod like "Hey this song's from the new Guitar Hero!" No it's not, it's "from" the artist who made it, and it is over 30 years old!

They keep mindlessly buying sequel after sequel and further expanding their music knowledge because the only way they can find it is if it's fed to them on a road with flashing lights and 5 colorful buttons.

...diddums.

Sorry, this entire mindset is completely alien to me. If someone likes something, good for them. If their enjoyment of something means you enjoy it less, surely you're an elitist dick? Noone wants to be an elitist dick, do they?
