Buying a 3DS bundle

If you didn't know, Nintendo are giving away a free game if you register a 3DS and either Smash Bros or Pokemon ORAS (http://store.nintendo.co.uk/offers/nintendo-handhelds-free-game.list) so I thought now might be a good time to get a 3DS.
This leaves me with a small quandary. I want the limited edition Smash bros 3DS, and it's only a tenner more than a regular one, but I definitely want Smash Bros on the Wii U so I play it with my sister, so what's the point of getting it on the 3DS? But then if I register both versions of Smash Bros I can get a CD set of the soundtrack and download codes for Mewtwo.

Should I get the limited edition 3DS XL, or should I get a regular 3DS XL with Pokemon (haven't played pokemon since Gold/Silver)? should I get a regular 3DS? Or should I ignore these bundles completely and try to find them cheaper elsewhere?

For the games by themselves, I would highly recommend Pokemon ORAS over Smash on 3DS. Smash on 3DS is great don't get me wrong, but if you want the new Smash, it would be better to invest in the Wii U version.

For the bundles, that's a little trickier. I would kinda suggest waiting for the New 3DS which will most likely come out in a few months in the US and Europe. But, if these bundles are too enticing, it really depends on what game you want. If it were me, I would go with the regular 3DS with Pokemon, but that's just me of course.

Sounds like a bad idea, you'll want the new 3DS the original is a really bad buy right now, at least some games won't even run and the hardware is a significant upgrade. Buying a 3DS right now is a bit like spending £350 on a PS3.

I'll probably end up getting the Pokemon bundle, if I get a bundle at all. Pokemon will keep me going for the longest time.

as much as I would want to suggest Pokemon (especially since you left at gen two and ORAS are Gen three remakes) I'd suggest getting the Smash Bros Bundle since it sounds like you'll get more free stuff out of that deal.

Since you don't care about Smash on 3DS, I really think you should wait for the "New" 3DS or XL. Honestly, even though I own an XL already, I think they may release a Majora's Mask themed "New" 3DS next year, so Ill probably upgrade when and if that happens.

whatever you do go with a 3DS XL it's easier to handle and the back-light strength is adjustable which is good for battery life
