Hi escapists,

I've just started C3 Maths and I'm stuck on this question:

f(x)=3-((x-1)/(x-3))+((x+11)/(2x^2-5x-3)) , x<-1

Show that: f(x)=(4x-1)/(2x+1)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Solve by factorising the final binomial, expressing the '3' as 3(x-3)/(x-3) and carrying on that idea across the entire function.

I can walk you through it if you still have trouble.

Also, the condition is a bit of a trick add-on to the question (i.e. pointless).

I must admit, I saw the "Maths problem" part of the title and thought it would be one of those stupid "Make ambiguous statements" problems. I'm just a bit gutted that someone got in on my specialist subject before I did ("Sckizo!!!"). Please post any more you get stuck on!

LOL, you cursing my name in the spirit of Cpt Kirk? Sorry to steal your thunder, since you're more of a mathematician than I am, I think!
