And that is a very beautiful Fay Enchantress:

https://twitter.com/totalwar/status/828604160161546240

Finally the faction I want to play so much in the Campaign is revealed, now I wait for it.

In the mean time I am gonna play with them in Custom Games.

To those that don't know, Bretonnia is already playable in the game, but only for Custom/Multiplayer Games, they are not playable in the Single-Player/Multiplayer Grand Campaign of the game. Also some units and leader units are missing such as the above Fay Enchantress and the possible Green Knight, which CA also tease with this art picture:

But in the end the DLC is gonna be free as according to the Free DLC List they showcased and that it should come out this month:

EDIT: I had to fix this OP a lot!!!!

Not as familiar with Bretonnia as I am with the empire but certainly looks cool.

Read up on the lore if you wish:

http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Bretonnia

But basically they are the standard Human Medieval England/France kingdom faction based on Arthurian Legends, with expected units like Knights and Trebuchets and Bowmen infantry, etc.

But they are NOT the important central human faction in the game, that honor lies with the Empire of Man who are based on the Holy Roman Empire during the Late Medieval/Renissance era style faction that factors in Guns and Cannons and STEAM TANKS:

Just get the weirdoes out already, Im interested in the ogres, lizard men and Skaven. Its about time Bretonia came out too bad kislev isn't getting its own roster, bear cavalry sounded cool. What role do Green Knights serve? He seems to be different from the rest of them.

Can grab it and 6 random steam games for 12 bucks this month which was cheap enough for me.

OT: I I hope we get Skaven they are by far my favorite Warhammer fantasy race.

On humble bundle you mean? I did look at that but I decided to wait still simply due to the fact I believe there will be more DLC later which is probably not free and the fact that I wont be able to find time to play it for a few months anyway even if I did buy it now.

The price isnt to bad at what its at on there but I reckon if I wait long enough I should be able to get it for about 2 quid like I did with Shogun 2 and im in no hurry.

Also can someone tell me does it support 4k TVs this time? the UI in shogun 2 was horrible with that resolution so had to turn it down to 1080.

The Green Knight is a character. He turns up when Bretonnia is in peril as if from nowhere and is seemingly immortal, with some people even claiming to have seen him pick up his own severed head and placing it back on his shoulders. After the battle he vanishes as mysteriously as he appeared.

What Here Comes Tomorrow said, in the miniature game he served as a non-lord (ie. couldn't lead an army) character in your army. He is basically GW's twist on the stock trope of the mysterious guardian knight and used to be a great way to troll people in the game. A favorite tactic of Brettonia players was to send him out alone (since he couldn't join units) and issue duel challenges to the enemies characters. Since he was pretty hard to kill due to his special rules, he often ended up locking characters up for rounds, which was devastating to armies that needed their leadership boost, before eventually killing them.

Need to get back into this, played about 27 hours obsessively as Empire to get my head around it and haven't delved back in since. Doesn't help I am so unbelievably awful at the battles! :(

Just to check...are you pausing the game to issue orders, or at least slowing it down? Sounds simple but I was absolute garbage at it until I worked that out. Things can go south much quicker that Medieval Total War, you really need to be on it with issuing orders. Using space to see where the hell all your dudes are headed helps when advancing.
I'm hardly an expert, but I've gone from snotling level to at least that of a gobbo by doing that, so maybe it'll help.

On that note, if anyone can tell me which button(s) to press to get your selected dudes to keep formation relative to each other when they move that'd be great...

OT: Free DLC eh? Won't be complaining about that.

Ha ha, I am, although sounds like we did similar learning curves! I am better than I was but I just don't really know how to setup my units effectively and when to charge, when to hang back etc - it's a gap in my basic understanding of warfare. :)

And then the special rules throw me, couldn't understand why some people were getting hacked to bits and some weren't, then it turned out some had shields - ta dah!

Or when I fought the undead couldn't work out why everyone fled the battlefield - wait? FEAR... I get it.

I will get there one day!

Confirmed Release date, The last day of February 28.

Fuck me that a long wait, but still confirmed finally I get to play Bretonnia in the Campaign proper without the use of Mods.

It varies with who your fighting, but with early chaos you probably want xbows on the flanks to take out their asshole kiting axe throwers and spearmen in front of the xbows to stop the inevitable war dogs. Set the spearmen to guard mode so they don't chase. Some flagellants to prop up the mid with some swordsmen and then some crossbows behind them and some artillery behind that. If they have some large infantry units you'll probably want spear type units in front mid as well to take their charge.
Don't bother with pistoliers, they're shit, free company aren't really worth it either. Once you get decent cavalry you can keep them out on the flanks to rear charge once your main line is engaged or to chase of pesky missile infantry. If you use them in pairs you can tie down fast moving units (except those fucking axemen) with a double charge, then get one unit to stay in combat while the other disengages then charges again for the charge bonus. Pinning with shitty units then cycle charging from the flank or rear with cavalry is a cunning plan.

Undead...hopefully you've worked out how well flagellants do.

it's speculation but highly likely that the 2 other FLC are going to be
1) The Red Duke of Mousillon with his starting position in Mousillon
2) Boris Todbringer with his starting position in middenheim

You'll want some other troops of course, but since flagellants are unbreakable you won't get chain routing destroy your army and they will usually survive long enough on their own for the rest of your army to stop running away.
