Alright so I've listened to this band Cake for a pretty long time now. And I think they're incredible. Great mix of just about everything. But I came to realized that not many people know of them. So I was just curious, how many people know them/listen to them? And to those who haven't give them a shot if you've got some spare time. I'd highly recommend them.

A couple of my friends really like them. I kinda liked them when I was about 12. I don't really care for them now though. Every once in a while I hum "Sheep go to Heaven, Goats go to Hell" to myself though.

I suppose I could try listeni-whoa! Limewire is asking me to buy their albums. That's never happened before.

I've never heard of them. That surprises me because I always fancied myself of a person who knows a lot of lesser known bands.

I had never heard of them, looked them up... eh... not my thing. The song I heard was "Never There". Are all of their songs like that, or is that like a bad first impression?

If not, throw me some links to better ones. I love music, and I always give a band more than one chance... unless it's screamo.

Try this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NSypnaxAlP4 Its a bit less 'rap' (and I use rap in a very loose sense)

They've been one of my favourites for years. John McCrea is one of the greatest lyricists ever, especially on Its Coming Down and Italian Leather Sofa.

What do the fans think of the newer (the ones with the newer band) albums, Comfort Eagle and Pressure Chief? I find Cake fans are really divided on them, though I still like them a lot.

It is better, and I LOVE the guy's singing voice, but I don't know I just can't get into it. Ah well, glad I tried it. I think it's because I'm less into the lyrics and more into the instruments. I'm not big on music that depends almost completely on the beat (not saying thats bad music, I do enjoy some).

Thanks for the other song either way, though. Might download it just 'cause of the name =P

I'd hardly consider them "lesser known". Many people probably know a song or two by them, they just don't know it's Cake.

Cake is a pretty good band. Also, I suggest that fans also try The Kooks if they haven't already.
If I knew more about describing music, I'd do it for both bands, but as it is, I'll just tell you all that the singer of The Kooks has an accent so strong, it can only be described as "Bri'ish", which is fantastically fun to try to sing along to. (The exception for this accent is when he's screwing around with his voice, like in Always Where I Need To Be, but that's fun to sing anyway)

I love Cake and have been listening to them for years. I've got all their albums. If you are going to buy one, I recommend Fashion Nugget first. I wish they would tour somewhere near me so I could go see them.

Bad example. Or maybe they're just not for you. It depends what song to reccomend... what sort of music are you into?

Yeah that's the same album I had started off with.
