Article Below---

I'm talking about the one in the middle.

See what I did there? I implied that because Lance Bass and Joe Fatone are well groomed and much better looking that I am, that you might mistake them for women. That's what they call "hilarious."

Enough of this side-splitting comedy; the news here is that Emmanuelle Chiriqui (pictured above) is going to do some voice acting for Call of Duty Black Ops. She's set to play an agent who "will be known by a set of numbers instead of a name." This numbered person will reportedly act "mysterious, elegant, sexy (and) with a hint of playful."

I'm interested to see how they can fit someone like that into a game that looks like a cross between The Deer Hunter and James Bond. I'm also interested to hear what her number will be. Numbers provide so much potential for rollicking comedy. I have a few gems I could lay on you, but I think I'll hold off. Instead, why don't you impart onto me your numerical comedy stylings in our comments section below.

Well she sounds a bit sterotypical for a girl character in a game like this, but maybe since they said that they want to make characters people care about, maybe just maybe she could be a good sterotpyical character. Well a more diverse cast can't hurt the game, atleast not normally.

The only thing I can say, is that if she is American in the story, I'm gonna call foul on this. I'll let Metal Gear Solid 3 slide because that' an alternative history story more than anything else, but CoD has been more about "realism", so adding in a (most likely) token female character into a Vietnam game would be awkward and immersion breaking.

On the other hand, if she's at least a Russian defector, then it may be plausible in the story and not completely out of place.

Modern Warfare had a female pilot who crashed the helicopter she was in.

*insert jibe about women drivers*

Also: so?

I'm pretty sure that at least one previous Call of Duty game had a female in it, one that didn't go for the 'sexy yet playful' stereotype.

Besides, who cares? There are plenty of female characters in the video game industry and Call of Duty isn't the first to do it. It's just not that groundbreaking to copy and paste Cortana anymore.

Great, the grunting stupidity spewing fanboys of MW2 are going to do the same as the Gears 3 fanatics and scream "NO GIRLS ALLOWED NOOBS!!!".

Sounds good to me, I always wondered why they didn't let you pick one or whatever.

lazyness, possibly, I think its cool when in multi-player games they give the choice of gender.

You know there were women AI in Call of Duty 2, when you fought with the Russians. So this "woman" probably wont be a token character which is what all of you have jumped to.

There were female Russian Soldiers in COD 2. Or at least in the Stalingrad levels. They were mainly just a female skin of the random mooks that are on your side who don't have the brains to survie one single firefight.

So she's just going to be the sexy female spy stereotype? Well it's better than her just being that voice in your head telling you what to do.

It's mostly because it's a lot of extra work, women move differently than men so you have to do ALL the motion capturing again. But still you'd think a game with THAT much money would go for it.

In the US military, women were not (and still technically are not) allowed to perform in "Combat Roles". They are, as such, not permitted to be an infantryman, artilleryman, tanker, special operations or fire support specialists.

It should be noted that many women have served in combat, especially in the current wars because there is no distinct "front line" to keep them behind. The closest thing you have to that is the wire surrounding your base and even THAT is going to get attacked from time to time. Women who serve as Military Police, Transport, and Aviation are often a part of unintentional combat operations as a result of their duties. MP's for example often provide additional convoy security details, aviation move about High Value individuals and transportation is required to move stuff across those unsecured spaces between point and and b.

I guess my opinion on if girls are "allowed" in Gears combat revolves mostly around if that armor the Gears wear is powered or not. If it isn't, then it would clearly require a musclebound person to wear and move in (it is, after all, expected to stop or slow untold hundreds of bullets), and none of the women the game presented could be considered "musclebound" in the slightest. Thus, if the armor isn't powered, I'd question Anya's ability to even move around in said armor, much less be sufficiently mobile to be anything other than a liability on the battlefield.

Also was there any girls in COD:MW/2..?
There was a female pilot that you "save" in Call of Duty 4, but none that I can remember in MW2.

OT: As long as she fits well into the story then I don't care. But I don't even know if I'll be buying this game yet.

So what? There was a girl in CoD 2. The Russian Sniper? I bet the only reason they announced this is to get a few more sales from 14 yr olds hoping they get to see some tits.
