Once again, Activision loves money and hates that not everyone hates them (or so it would seem).

Also, I actually laughed out loud when they referred to Call of Duty as a "Hyper-Realistic Combat Simulator".

That is actually a REALLY good idea considering how many people play COD, and I bet that a lot of the hardcore players would gladdly pay a monthly fee for extra stuff to make them better than others.

Or it ends in complete and utter failure and the COD franchise disappears and new games can come out without being killed by it!

My plan is coming together perfectly, hahahah!

Wow, they really like money.
What, might i ask, are they actually fucking doing with all that money? The engine hasn't changed since Modern Warfare 1, and neither has the gameplay.
Do they honestly just roll around in it? Because i always thought that was just some kind of joke for referring to Nintendo and Blizzard with...

hyper-realistic combat-simulation game
...Really? Hyper realistic? "Sir, are you hurt?!" "Nah, it's just a few gunshot wounds and some shrapnel. Just let me go walk it off and I'll be right as rain."

In an interview, Activision Chief Executive Bobby Kotick said he isn't worried about pushback from gamers about the Call of Duty Elite fee because players will still be able to compete against each other online without subscribing to the service.
So it isn't the end of the world, then. Still kinda crappy, though.

Well that settles it, I'm definitely not even going to bother with the online multiplayer for MW3. I'll pay for the campaign as I'm actually a bigger fan of the story than most, but this is a bridge too far.

Bobby Kotick you have officially earned one more person who hates you, I hope you're proud of yourself.

It's getting really hard to defend the Call of Duty series as of late.

I'm saying this now, I will not pay for any extra content, especially from a multiplayer game that as of yet will not incorporate dedicated servers.

I spend most of my gaming time in Call of Duty, but I just plain will not pay for fees on top of the fucking 20 dollar map packs.

Can't wait for Battlefield 3 to blow them out of the damn water.
Saying that about every game that has a mere mention of multiplayer won't make it come true. It's getting very old. If your looking for a game to replace Call of Duty, you've already lost. And that's going to be Battlefields biggest downfall.

this is just getting greedy....sad thing is the casual gamers who only buy call of duty yearly will never see this coming

Firstly, hyper realistic combat simulator? I actually like Call of Duty, and I will say outright that that statement is downright silly

Secondly, I'm no longer as worried about the monthly fee thing. At first I thought it would be a thing that was required to play online. But this just looks like extra content that I can just ignore. Yes, there is a concern that they will skimp out on the base game in order to get people to pay a monthly fee, but I will be able to tell that by simply looking at what the base game has for features, won't I? As long as I am capable of being a rational individual, I have to reason to worry about this.

Well good thing I play CoD for the campaign. Also they stated that there would never be a charge to be able to play multi so I can care less. Still getting MW 3 and BF 3.

And there goes any chance of me ever buying a CoD game ever again. I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that Kotick is going through with this or the fact that people will still pay the fee despite how angry they are about it.

I'm more troubled at the fact that the article referred to Call of Duty as "hyper-realistic."

OT: Well I'm not paying just to play online. I'd probably get pissed off in the first 10 minutes.
