So I've heard a variety of things from different people and few of them are good so I want to get this straight:

Where are you from and what is your country's general view of America?

I live in Canada and have all my life. I think that the United States is starting to wane on its global influence as the model of Economy, Industry and Education they maintain (which heavily influences development in those respects on an International basis) are outdated because of those models being directed and largely unmodified since the legal and cultural constructs assembled in the Industrial Revolution.

Well, I don't particularly like the people that represent it, and laugh at the idiots that I've seen in videos made to show America as stupid.

But I don't have anything against America exist the population that mean tons of things must be dumbed down or have a warning telling you not to do obvious things.

But I doubt I'd want to live there. The constant presence of guns, whether or not in a country stereotyped as being stupid, would unnerve me.

Pretty much my feelings on this. I hate these threads. Its just a thinly disguised "Bash America" thread.

I'm from the UK. My country seems to generally dislike America. it might be because our country used to be America's *****. you know, the one who got slugged and promptly yelled "thank you sir may I have another" from the kitchen floor while fetching them a beer and making them pancakes every day. It might also be because we got dragged into the Iraq 'war' by them. Oh well.

Personally, I don't hate America at all. In fact, I recognize it as the powerhouse driving force behind most things that it is. Movies, TV shows, games. all that good stuff, America is where it all gets decided. In fact I want to move there in the future, and fully intend to once I finish or leave/get thrown out of my Uni course here.

I just make fun of it cause it's a pretty easy target. There's SO many stereotypes to play on, plus there USED to be the millions of jokes you could effortlessly make about George Dubya.

I'm from the UK but I moved to the US when I was 10, and we learnt stuff in the USA that I had learnt four years ago in Britain. It was kind of sad.

There were a lot of other stuff that my mother especially doesn't stop going on about, including driving, controversial issues, FOX news, and hundreds of other complete indecencies that I don't think I have enough information from both sides to fully divulge, but enough so that I agree with her and hate 99% of america.

Obama FTW

Been to New York and loved it.
But my country view of America (portugal) is that it seems to sponsor almost 100% of the world conflicts over the last 65 years.

Most of it is usually found between Canada and Mexico.

We believe to be right on the money with that.

Country: Canada.

General Viewpoint: They're kind of like an irresponsible sibling. Sometimes their shenanigans pay off, sometimes they don't, but since we're (metaphorically) family the relationship gets all kind of tangled up. We'd love for them to get their head right, but, well, they're going to end up doing their own thing one way or another.

Denmark here. Our general view on americans is that alot of them are overweight. I was in New York last october, and it was pretty neat. One thing that annoyed the hell out of me is that you have to add the tax yourself to see the real prices, WHY IS THAT? One thing that I thought was really nice was that the people where, well most of them anyway, was really nice, especially when in shops etc. It just feeled nice that you where greeted and all, we dont see that that often in Denmark, so it just felt right

Australian. We tend to think of America as two seperate continents North America and South America.

UK: Friendly (most of them at-least) people, have a number of problems with healthcare, gun control, poverty etc... but as countries go America is still one of the best out there, though I personally prefer Europe.
