It has been brought to my attention that the Waschowski Brothers are set to direct a reboot Superman Trilogy. I'll admit that this thread is one part rant, one part opinion poll and an opinion. That being said I would like to start.

Rant:
When I first heard that the Wachowski Bros. would be handling The Man of Steel, my feelings were shall we say...complicated. Judgeing by the past films the Brothers have proven themselves worthy of introducinh genuinely intriguing, clever and even spiritiual elements to a film as shown bt The Matrix Trilogy, well more the original than the last two but you get what I mean. There other films like V for Vendetta and Speed Racer have been less than admirable. Being a fan of the novel I was shocked at the prospect of introducing ideas which didn't have anything to do with the source material and didn't really belong, while Speed Racer was simply an excercise in WHIZBANGFLASHandPOW (I apologize to fans of the films but its just my opinions, dont take them seriously)
I'll admit, judging a film's potential by the director's past work is ridiculous and I have done this to many a film (including Zank Snyder and Watchmen which I was proven wrong) but Im genuinely concerned. I have been a Superman since God knows how long and I have always believed in the idea of the right man for the right job and this doesn't bode well.

Poll:
So what do you guys and gals think about this? Could it be great or simply add to a long list of failed attempts at capturing The Last Son of Krypton on film?

Opinion:
Part of this thread comes from a belief that most, if not all, of Hollywoods hotshots have a Superman film series all wrong.

If you are going to attempt something as Epic* and Iconic a Superman, you can't possibly retrict yourself to a trilogy. No. Superman can only be done justice in a 5 movie series each one using the Supermna mythos (Sorry Donner, you were so close but oh so wrong). The villains should not be stricted to Lex and other Kryptonions and actually give someone Superman can fight for God sakes. Believe it or not but there are individuals out there who can take him on. I know what your thinking: What would you know, your just some random geek with a Superiority Complex. True but let me give you a rundown of the Superman series I would make.

I. Superman/Clark and associated characters i.e Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen etc, are introduced sans Superman's past in Smallville (this is introduced later on in the series along with Krptonite. Superman/Clark goes up against Lex Luthor for the first time in an insurance shceme but later take him down before he can start on arms race against among terrorist and bounty hunters named Intergang he has hired against Superman/Clark. Lex does get away with the scheme but will later face legal difficulties during the series.

II. Brainiac appears (for the first time ever in a film) and sets out to steal Earth's information and destroy the planet by posing as a benefactor to the planet. Allying with Brainiac, Lex uses the alien supercomputer's popularity to smear Superman's reputation. Brainiac ultimately puts his plan into action and attempts to confront Superman where we are introduced to Superman/Clark's other weakness (red solar light). He is foiled and seemingly destroyed by Superman/Clark, whom he tells about the information inside his (Superman/Clark's) ship. Lex is betrayed by Brainiac "posthumously" triggering a legal investigation from the events in part I. Superman first meets his true Parents via a hologram and uses information from both Brainiac's ship and his own to contruct the Fortress of Solitude. Superman/Clark's relationship with Lois developes.

III. We first see Superman/Clark's life back in Smallville as he developes his powers. We are then pulled out back to current times where he is having trouble with Morgan Edge, a corrupt CEO who wishes to reform Intergang. Combining forces with Edge in order to seemingly re-energize LexCorp and staff off the authorities, Lex uses Edge and Intergang in order to break into The Fortress where Lex steals Kryptonion technology and Superman/Clark's DNA. Superman/Clark's relationship further developes but Lois finds herself in a love triangle. Lex uses the DNA to create Bizarro, an imperfect Superman clone. While Superman/Clark engages Bizarro, Edge takes the opportunity to steal a device which creates a warp hole to a new dimension which the press has dubbed the Phantom Zone. When Lex usurps control of Edges company and Intergang he unleashes the device upon Smallville where a titanic battle between Suprman and Bizarro has spilled. Ostrocized from the people and deemed a monster Bizarro decides to sacrifice himself to save the people taking the device to Earth's outer orbit before it detonates. Superman and Lex help rebuild Metropolis and Smallville where Lex creates a political campaign due to his newfound popularity.

IV. We are introduced to the Bottle City of Kandor, a kryptonion city in a jar Brainiac was able to save before the planets destruction. Superman/Clark is fighting against the city's rogue AI which has named itself the Eradicator**. Since III Lex has become a presidential candidate and is starting use the information he took from the Fortress in order to help his campaign and has intoduced, among other things, cybernetics to the world (he has also been secrectly synthesizing kryptonite which he also wears on a ring). We are introduced to Jonathan Corben, a journalist at the Daily planet whose higher than thou mentality has almost destroyed his marriage and has made numerous enemies including Bruno Mannhiem, the leader of Intergang. Assinated by the terrorist cell, his remains are taken by Lex and he resurects him as a cyborg powered by kryptonite. As Superman/Clark decides to take some time off after failing to save his best friend Peter Ross. Corben is sent by Lex to find Superman/Clark but has to deal with Intergang, where he inadvertedly saves people and starts to change his ways even attempting to repair his marriage. Superman/Clark tells Lois the truth about his identity and takes her to The Fortress. Lex applies pressure on Corben and has Intergang hold his wife hostage. Corben destroys the city in order to find and attract Superman/Clark who is persuaded by Lois to help. Losing to Corben, Superman/Clark reasons with reasons with him and agree to help him find his wife while Corben takes on Lex. Superman/Clark soon discover the Intergang hideout but learns that Lex lied about her whereabouts. Corben takes on Lex, who dons his power armour for the first and only time and nearly destroys Corben, Superman finds Corbens wife but cant go on after Corben and Lex battle spills before him weakening him. Corben decides to in order to save his wife and Superman defeats Lex. While in hospital, by an attack Lex claimed was caused by Intergang, he discovers he has cancer as a result of overexposur to "a unique form of radiation". Corben is rebuilt by Superman and returns to a relativley normal life while Superman/Clark proposes to Lois. Lex kills Bruno in order to erase all contact he had with Intergang and decides to quit his campaign.

V. Happily married to Lois and a number of new heroes emerging in Metropolis, Superman/Clark can relax until a spaceship makes its way to downtown Metropolis. The ship is investigated by Star Labs an accidently releases an Alien killing machine the media dubs Doomsday. Overwhelmed the few new heroes of Metropolis are easily defeated and Superman fights the creature taking him far into the desert where the military can use a small nuclear bomb in order to destroy Doomsday. Superman/Clark dies oies in the struggle after being struck by a monumental punch that breaks his neck. Doomsday is destroyed in the blast but Superman/Clark's corpse survives unscathed and the world mourns the loss of Superman. Metropolis finds itself with even more superheroes who honour his passing. Lex, desperate for a cure and furious he himself did not destroy Superman he makes a deal with Brainiac who finally reveals himself with The Fortress' computer. Bonding into one being, Lexiac destroys The Fortress and set about to rule the planet combining both Lex's greed and ambition with Brainiac's programming. Superman is ressurected and battles Lexiac along with the new heroes. Lexiac is ultimately defeated when Superman decides to go out forcibly seperating Brainiac from Lex, atomising him in the process. Lex, though cured, is taken to prison and the film ends with Superman/Clark and Lois celebrating their anniversary atop the Daily Planet.

*I think Superman is Epic, its my own personal opinion
**Superman has been able to visit Kandor by a Holographic VR device

P.S If this becomes an I HATE SUPERMNA OR SUPERMAN SUX thread It will have it deleted thats not what I came to talk about tonight
