..or at least, that would by my list. But the wise and glorious OP has deigned that only certain forms of metal are 'real' metal. And seeing as a couple of those bands on there don't fit in with his elite band of 'real' sub-genres they are evidently not metal. This is obviously true, as of course, metalcore isn't a real genre of metal is it? Oh no of course it isn't, it's just a figment of our imagination.

I'm sorry OP, but deciding that because you dislike a certain sub-genre does not equal the rest of the world seeing eye to eye with you. You are not God of all you survey and have no right to exclude something just because you don't like it. It would be like saying "which console is best, PS3 or Wii, but don't talk about the 360 because it's not a real console". Do you see how close excluding something is to flaming it?

If you want this game to actually work you need to pander to all metalheads, not just ones that agree with you. I dislike all forms of black, folk and most thrash metal, but would not say that it shouldn't appear in the game, as people out there like it, and would certainly not say it isn't real metal.

Yeah, this makes sense to me too. Besides, more metalcore and groove bands are known, therefore the game would sell better.

btw you win for putting psycroptic in, it is great to see a band from tasmania australia getting known outside australia. mind you I miss Chalky on vocals.

Don't worry, you're not the only one who misses Chalky. Although rumor has it he cheated on the vocals, by being really close, singing quiet, and practically whispering, and is also said he barely ever performed live because he can't do it loud, which i think is bull crap.

Even then, I don't get why people choose to listen to them in the first place, IMO."...gtfo! Linkin Park is the worst scum to ever claim to be rock or metal of any classification beyond even that of slipknot and disturbed(Nu-metal scum). If your not absoloutely retarded you'd understand it's a style of singing and it actually takes a lot of talent.

Even then, I just think screaming in a song is horrible and pointless - it really ruins the harmony of a song. Now, the rest of Linkin Park may or may not be the scum of the earth, but the vocalist is absolutely brilliant. Yes he screams, but he isn't heavily reliant on it. This is the reason why Linkin Park have that small silver lining of being better.

Ok I think you probably have the wrong idea of what I'm talking about here, I mean growling not screaming, it's not just a guy yelling at a microphone. There are several different pitches, it takes a LOT of endurance and skill to actually find those pitches. Also it doesn't ruin the harmony because the song is fucking built around it. Not to mention you don't look for harmony in death metal.

This wins. There's not a lot of people saying that growls are great because they are afraid of what they don't know. Saying growling isn't a type of singing is like saying an electric guitar isn't a guitar because it's distorted. Growling takes alot of skill, not just mucous. I really think growling can be used beautifully, like Haggard's old stuff. Point is, not every average joe can do growls. Which is why it would be awesome to have in guitar hero and what not. It's not only going to be a game, but it's going to teach you how to growl, and accept that it's a style of singing.

Yeah I'm always a litle dissapointed when death metal songs have no-tone singing in rockband.

First off, we can't make Activision do anything. We're a few hundred users versus the millions that are happy with GH as is. Second most of your choices are so obscure that even if they did make such a game that wouldn't include those songs.

There is in fact harmony in death metal though - a very angry one. The guitar is angry, the drums are angry, the vocals are... yeah. x+y+z=angry.

Well im not sure about rumors but I saw chalky live twice and it was great both times!!! alot better than the newer guy!!

Somehow I suspect ska would not be as much fun to play in GH/RB format since a large percentage of the melodies in ska are horn related. I could be wrong though.
