I just came across this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=channel&v=mShs9gyhZro

I cannot believe this guy. He's so proud of his Neo Geo collection that he takes a video of it whilst he dances around bare chested and shorts/ underwear and giving the viewer the middle finger because we don't own a £500 cartridge for a game we can get free on internet download or buy for about £10 for the playstation version (refering to Metal Slug).

Is it possible to be more geeky than this guy?

EDIT: OMG IT GETS WORSE!

Check out the photos on this thread.

He collects games... I don't really see a point or discussion in this thread, you're just being a jerk to some guy who likes to collect games. He's showing off his collection (along with his sexy body) and if you paid that much money for games like that, you would want to show it off too.

Agreed. Let the poor guy do what he wants and leave him alone.

I personally don't see the point in paying that much for a videogame. There are some Neo Geos that go for something like $1000+ apparently. I guess you could argue people pay more than that for paintings but I just don't think a game is ever worth that much.

Secondly, I've seen vids of people showing off their collection i.e. a video panning across a row of games on a shelf, but actually being in the vid dancing in your undies?

The Halo kid is pretty bad ... but I don't know.
I'll see that bet, and raise you one Star Wars Kid.

I dunno man... the Satar Wars kid never made paper machet outfits from the movie and ran around the woods in them with theme music playing...

You know, every time I see this video, I feel like it's really just some long, lost footage of Valve's Gabe Newell as a kid.

Actually unless I am mistaken - the dude, original name 'Rot' was attempting to give a massive FU to various people within the original thread. Kudos!

I lol'd.

Anyway, if you consider this guy a weirdo for posing covered with rare videogames, you'd better also condemn all the random female teens who pose clad in mundane console controllers.

None of this stuff is reason for me to think less of him.

That's what I was getting at. He was trying to say he was superior to people because of his collection.

I think some have misunderstood my original post (which is my fault as I didn't read it through). I wasn't trying to really insult this guy, but ask if anyone can find someone more geeky than him (I don't consider the term 'geek' to be an insult anymore as it's used so often. I consider it to be used in the same way as the word 'otaku' is used). Thos who responded with the vid of the Star Wars guy got the right idea though.

You might say that now, but if you had more money, I think your tune would change.

I don't know if you are aware of arcade enthusiasts who buy and put together arcade cabinets for home use. I think the fully furnished cabinets cost something like $3k; here [http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/pcbs/pcb/Dodonpachi_Daifukkatsu_7583.html] you can see a single game (to be placed inside such a cabinet) that costs $2.5k. Not some collector's item, but a new game released in 2008.

Many people who aren't even car enthusiasts spend $50k on a car without much thought, while a $20k car would get them from A to B perfectly well. What, then, means $1k on a game you love?

Even if I were a millionaire I don't think I'd spend 1k on a game. And a car is different. People buy expensive cars to adhere to a certain lifestyle i.e. you buy a Ferrari to publically show people you're rich, and to get the women with the nice bodies, and all the people in the bar to want to be your best friend etc.

I can't see people doing that with a 1k videogame... but I could be wrong.
