I did a quick search and didn't find a thread on this.

Anyway, I'm kind of obsessed with zombies right now and I'm tired of all the same crap. Can anyone recommend me some good zombie books? Aside from the walking dead. Lol

Well just from looking at my shelf, The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z by Max Brooks are both excellent and raise the bar quite high for zombie literature. I am also currently reading The Living Dead 2, which is just an anthology of a bunch of short stories with zombies. It is an excellent read as well.

The Walking Dead is supposed to be a great graphic novel series as well as a good television series. I just heard about it, I haven't checked it out myself yet.

Yeah, have to second World War Z/ Zombie survival guide and Walking Dead.

Also, it's not quite zombies, but you MUST read the book I Am Legend. I also suggest the two movies based on it (I don't count the Will Smith movie because it changes so much), the Last Man on Earth (Vincent Price), and The Omega Man (Charleton Heston).

Gonna jump onto the World War Z/Zombie Survival Guide bandwagon. Those are just good books.

Also check out Patient Zero, Rot & Ruin, and Dust & Decay by Johnathan Maberry. Really good books.

Just a couple more: I Am Legend...wow, drawing a random blank here. I know I have read more. I shall return!

Edit: Check out the Living Dead(pretty sure that's the name). It is a collection of short stories by some of the better zombie writers out there. Could lead you to some more things to read.

Yep! haha

I meant zombie fiction in the form of reading material. people dont normally think of "fiction" as a film or video game (though of course technically it is)

Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines I really enjoyed and I'm currently reading the sequel, Ex-Patriots.
It's basically superheroes vs zombies, with a great writing style (keeps switching to first person as the heroes describe how they started and what they were doing during the initial zombie outbreak).

Zombie fact, oddly enough, hasn't been done to death. You take a live person, and give them a mind-altering drug that makes them easily persuaded tp do what they are told.

...

Oh, Bleeding Chalice, a 40k book from the Soul Drinkers series, isn't about zombies as such, but they play a big part. Not rubbish plague zombies, but proper animated dead, controlled by evil magicians.

Mogworld by Yahtzee. While not a zombie book per say, most of the main characters are undead, and trust me, the book is awesome.
Also the Zombie survival guide, a hilariously deadpan book by the son of comedic legend Mel Brooks, whats not to love?

And making zombies is easier than that, starve people then give them a big dose of PCP and turn them loose
True, but I meant the original zombie idea (well, it was "potion" not "drug", but you get the idea)...I think certain nations still have to have laws against zombie magic.

I, Zombie [http://www.amazon.com/TOMES-DEAD-ZOMBIE-Tomes-Abaddon/dp/1905437722/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1319811181&sr=1-6] by Al Ewing is a really good piece of Zombie fiction.

I don't want to spoil the plot by giving too much away, but it's a really interesting take on the genre.

It's told from the point of view of the protagonist who is a Zombie that has walked the Earth since the Dawn of Man, and every couple of chapters there's an interesting flashback to his life as he participated in different eras of history (a bit like the flashback in Highlander).

Then Part 2 happens and holy shit, the story takes an epic turn that you wouldn't expect from a book about Zombies and all sorts of hell breaks loose... it's at this point, when you can start to put all the pieces together, that you realise what a brilliant take on the genre and true nature of zombies this story really is.

I can't recommend it enough and not any more thoroughly without spoiling the plot, but you should check it out if you can obtain it for a reasonable price.

In fact, every book I've read in the Tomes of the Dead series by Abbaddon Books have been great pieces of Zombie fiction, from the British Gangster themed The Words Of Their Roaring to the epic historical romp The Devil's Plague has been good pieces of Zombie fiction... albeit somewhat pulpy, but enjoyable nevertheless.

How about a story of man's interaction with the sapient robots we will someday create - in the midst of the zombie apocalypse?

The E-book is free for a limited time. Zero risk.

Oh, and the sapient robots? They were built for sexual companionship.

Oh, and the zombies? They .... well, they pretty much shamble, moan, and try to eat you alive. Pretty much.

limited time..... completely free.....
