Can my power supply run this?

Hello,

I'm looking to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129153 in the near future, and I'm wondering if it'll run fine on a 470w(sticker) power supply.

If not, I'd like to know what I should be looking for and any suggestions are welcome (for the graphics card as well, if there is a better deal for similar price.)

You need to use an Power Supply Calculator to get an idea. you'll need to input your (desired) system specs accurately and run virtual stress tests.

According to the specs on AMD's site the minimum PSU power is 400W... so unless your other components have extremely unusual power draw, you'll be fine.

I'd suggest going to a good, basic 550w supply at least. Something by Antec or SeaSonic with an 80+ gold rating is recommended.

As above, at LEAST get a 550W. I personally would just get a 750W because then you wont need to upgrade it for about another 3 years worth of new-gen GPUs.


(Unless ATi/nVidia decide to release something on steroids)

with a 470w sticker, you should be getting about 500~ actual power. Does that GPU need a 6 pin connector? If not you really should be fine.
