I'm thinking of finally going back to Persona 3 to finish it, but my PSN copy won't run. Instead, I launch it, the system shuts down, then I turn it on, get that error, then the system boots like normal after a second turn off.

It's happened before with my PS3, but it only happens with PS2 Classics. I try other downloaded software, and it always works well, and deleting and reinstalling doesn't fix it.

Since the above suggests it isn't the hard drive dying, can anyone give any suggestions?

I think Ezekiel said he had this issue in another thread. All you can probably do is either swap the HDD if you or someone else has a spare, or reformat (backup first of course if possible).

Other than that there are a bunch of YouTube videos on this subject so maybe one of them has a better solution.

Appreciate the feedback, but it worked when I tried a short while ago.

Besudes, can't be the HDD, it only happens to PS2 Classics.

Sticking a magnet to the thing should clear it right up. No guarantees about ever being able to use it again though :p

Have you rebuilt the database recently? Boot into safe mode and give that a shot.

It's happening again.

It can't be the hard drive, because it only happens to PS2 classics. What could I be doing wrong?

If it helps, there's a single click before the PS3 shuts off.
