What i mean with my title is this . Developers try to get more of a real life feel to games now days it seems . And is that a good thing ?,I know that for me it messed up the GTA series.I hate getting run over by a car when crossing a street or the brilliant walking in to a open car door when just stepping out of the car. Other games have the same thing , like shaky aiming or other things that are supposed to make the game more "life" like. I want my over the top thing back in games, . or is it just me :)

Depends on what game and what is construed as reality. Mario would be crap if he could only leap the height of a normal person, unless you somehow altered the franchise into "Plumber's Creed"...

Depends what the game is really, reality is great when you know what you're in for... Lots of people thought GTA4 was going to be ridiculously over the top, so were disappointed when it was a bit limited at the start.

Yes, I hate realism! Screw realism and the horse it rode in on too. ...ok seriously, injecting too much reality into a game takes the fun out of it; well for me it does anyway. I don't know about anyone else, but I play games to escape reality; so injecting reality into my games defeats my purpose for gaming.

I like realism... I like games such as Arma 2, Operation flashpoint, Red orchestra, Hearts of iron III e.t.c. So for me personally, realism usually only makes the game better.

I've had more fun with ArmA II than I have with almost any other game this year, and that games almost real life it's so realistic.
This, except with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising because I don't have a gaming PC. My favourite FPS of 2009.

OPFLASH 2 isn't quite as realistic.
Nah, it's just a bad game IMO...the AI is glitchy, your teammates are like small children that need to be reminded of their goals every five minutes...

And checkpoints are nowhere to be found.

Personally myself, I don't like realism. Probably because when I was little friends would often use me. It caused me to utilize Escapism to relax and get away from all the stress of life. If you keep adding realism sooner or later it'll be just like your boring every day normal life, and what fun is that? You can play "boring every day normal life" for free, just shut off the game console.

Again with this discussion? If you don't like games that are more grounded in reality, then don't play them. There are plenty of other options out there for you.

ARMA 2: You spend about 15 minutes waiting around for a helicopter for the driver to realistically crash into a building and take out half of your squad. Hilarious. Realism put into a game can make everything become a comedy.

The games I play generally aren't very realistic and whenever there is realism in a game it's usually very annoying.
