Can some one help me out?

I just installed Left 4 Dead 2 but a lot of the walls and objects are purple and black checkered.
How do I fix this?

I may be wrong, but I suspect that means the texture's haven't been installed properly. Try re-installing the game, that should do it.

This. Also, you could try looking for a patch to download, no way this is the first time this has happened, maybe somebody already complained about it and they made a patch.

Also, pimppeter, I agree, I love being first on "help me" threads.

Right click on the game in your Steam games list and select "verify cache integrity" or whatever it's called.

Try turning your detail levels down.

Take the disc out and blow out the dust.
