Ok, so we know that Pirates are good consumers and that they consume pay content more often and that exposure in any form is great for IP, even bad stuff.(take, for example, Rebecca Black, were she not made famous by having her song released for free, I doubt anyone would have paid anything for it, now she's a multi millionaire from 1 song.
So why does hollywood not want a bunch of people to get more exposure and more movie connoisseurs running about? The fact that there are individuals who watch 10x more movies, but pay maybe 1/5th on average is still 100% more profit for hollywood than someone who only goes to movies every once in a while because they don't frequent theaters.
(and the lost sale argument is silly, especially with movies, I have 1000+ movies on my hardrive, I've still seen 5 movies in theater this month, (one on every weekend, plus an additional one on xmas), I simply do not have the money or the TIME to go out and see any more, so I download one or two and watch them at my leisure. If I really love it, I'll buy the DVD.
I don't see a good reason to try to eliminate piracy.
