Can someone get more ignorant?

I was on Facebook and I had asked my friend on his wall "do you know any good N64 games?" This started a discussion about classic games for the N64, Gamecube and Gameboy Advance. There were 3 of us in the conversation, me, the friends who's wall I posted on, and another friend who is interested in gaming. Then along came my sisters friend, she is 2 years younger than me, I'd never spoken to her before, but I knew her as my sisters friend. This is what she said:

"Omg u saddos get a real console like a PS3 or xbox and play a real game like cod!!" Then she called us something homophobic, possibly made worse by the fact that the friend who dropped in to talk about gaming is actually gay.

So got any thoughts on this person? Any experiences like this? Should I be ashamed to be related to someone who considers this bag of air a friend?

I don't know about ignorant, perhaps just stupid. But only because of the insulting nature in which she spoke, I don't think there's anything inherently ignorant or stupid about prefer a current-gen console to older ones. A lot of people have only gotten into gaming recently, so would have little to no experience of the older consoles and games. In that case, they will obviously prefer the latest consoles/games.

However, she really didn't need to get involved in your discussion in the first place, and she definitely didn't need to insult you.

My thoughts on her as a person:
She is a sad, ignorant human-being without any knowledge of anything whatsoever. She is not worth any of your attention at all.

My own experiences:
Too many to even try to get into. I deal with ignorant brats every day.

Should you be ashamed?
Well, I'm going to say no. It's not your friend, it's your little sisters. Not saying that I wouldn't be ashamed, but I'm funny like that.

Am I a sad and bitter little man? Indeed I am.

I wouldn't say your sister's friend is ignorant, as such; she's entitled to her own opinion, after all. I would say that she's offensive, though.

Fortunately, I haven't really been exposed anything like that on Facebook. For the most part, I think my friends are relatively mature - that, or I just haven't seen their immaturity. :3

There is however something inherently ignorant AND stupid about someone butting in, in a conversation which topic they do not comprehend. And starting throwing around homophobic-slur is just that; ignorant AND stupid.

I'd ignore her and if possible block her from commenting. Also don't be ashamed she isn't your friend and you don't have to pay her any mind.

Well, I did say that she oughn't to have butted in. But I think throwing her opinion in without being asked is more over-opinionated and rude than ignorant.

I also said that she really shouldn't have insulted them, and I'll agree with you that the homophobic slur was both ignorant and stupid.

I am 15 but I was lucky enough to have as my first games what are now considered classic games (mostly N64 and Game Boy), I see behavior like that when I am around people my age who only started playing around the time of GTA Vice City, Call of Duty (after 4) and Counter-Strike (please note that they consider these games the games great games and that a true hardcore gamer needs to play them.

They are more stubborn than ignorant, they refuse to try something else because they already have something that they consider good.

But I do find homophobic comments ignorant and the people that make homophobic comments with the purpose of hurting someone are idiots and a waste of space.

Ignore all opinions that are given to you if it's in a tone that insults all others.

i once backhanded a dude fo saying stuff like that in a conversation needless to say from then on he was much nicer in conversations i can't even remember the topic but i think it was anime or something but in my eyes if you plan on bashing somebodys interests without knowing exactly what they are talking about,IE.saying heavy metal sucks when all you have ever heard is slipknot. you should be prepared for what comes next

You're on Facebook. Ignorance is a given.
Agreed.

She sounds like a combination of stupid, ignorant and trying too hard to be cool.

Which is a fail.

Thats where you mock her for her stupidity, make her look foolish without getting insulting.

Just a gentle mocking, enough to let her know you think she has the IQ of plankton.

At least thats what I do with people that annoy me ... or hit them, but she's a lass DO NOT BEAT HER for being a fool.

I would say she is comedy and is she old enough for some trouser snake? Prove you aren't gay and all that lol.

Do you really think a little name is so bad? Especially when it was said with no intent. People nowadays are so fragile and intolerant. Do you really need wrapping in cotton wool to survive the horrors of a little name calling?

Try 6 years of physical bullying...it certainly built up my tolerance :p

Never, ever, EVER underestimate the potential stupidity of humans (ignorance included). As the number of people in close proximity to someone rises, potential stupidity rises exponentially. The number of people is so staggeringly massive on facebook, stupidity of this magnitude is expected.

The problem with telling everyone that their opinion counts is that people will start to think they must share it with everyone.

And this is not a positive outcome. Not a positive outcome at all.

there are retards all over the world, people like your sisters "friend" are some of them.

Dont let them get to you, they are either ignorant or really really dumb - both ways it doesnt matter to you, as trying to change some1 like that will only result in a huge waste of time and dissappointment.
