..a game, that you've played through and at some point during or after wished you could play through it with a protagonist from a different game? Not just aesthetically, but mechanically as well? For example after a recent re-play of Deus Ex:HR I was kinda pining for my custom Shep from ME3. Got me thinking,

Id definitely playthrough the Uncharted games with Gabriel from Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Are we talking about having a different skin for the main character and keeping the gameplay the same, or do we also "import" the gameplay from the game the new character is from? If option 1, never; if option 2, there are plenty of games where the kingdom Hearts system of fighting would have made for more fun times (can't think of any from the top of my head).

Hmm... I had to think about it for a bit, but:

Halo: The Master Chief is so dull, it would have been so much better if say... Isaac Clarke took his place. Isaac's suit is way cooler, and he actually has feelings.

Well, The Witcher 2 and Chronicles of Riddick were two games where I felt that the protagonist detracted from the overall game. Those titles star an emotionless, passionless, gormless flat-voiced Mary Sue and an utterly unsympathetic sociopathic poser respectively.

However, I'm struggling to think who I'd want to replace them with. I don't really like that many video game protagonists. I mean, there's a few. Joel from The Last of Us, Booker from Bioshock Infinite, Lee from The Walking Dead, April Ryan from The Longest Jounrney. None of them fit though.

Oh fuck it. I want to play The Witcher 2 as one of the wizards from Magicka:

I'd like Farcry 3 to replace Jason Brody with Raphael from the ninja turtles. It'd be tits and I wouldn't have to worry about Jason's angsty dialogue like "ILL DO THIS BY MYSELF ALRIGHT GAWD IM A MAN NOW" or maybe I'm embellishing it a wee bit now.

Generally speaking I've thought about this every time I played a game where my character couldn't jump, or would insta-drown.

I would love to put Link into other fantasy games, he would keep all his interesting abilities, gadgets, and appearance. I would like to see a character with his abilities in a huge open world like an Elder Scrolls game, although I wouldn't really want a real Zelda game trying to emulate Elder Scrolls.

It would be awesome to put Samus or Master Chief into Dead Space, only to have a playthrough where vulnerability is literally thrown out of the door. Samus especially could handle the situation with little trouble.

Replacing Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 2 with Raiden from Metal Gear Rising would be pretty good, maybe that could make the game a lot more interesting. Playing Skyrim with Lara Croft would be kinda interesting too, with all the dungeons to raid.

While playing as the Arbiter in Co-Op Halo 3, I begged to play as the Arbiter from Halo 2, who had an invisibility mechanic and was more stealth based than Mr. Chief.

If I could have had Epic Micky with Mario from the Galaxy games as tight as he was in them, maybe I would have played it more.

Seriously, their movesets are basically the same only Micky's is worse.

The mobility of the Aliens is unmatched, and makes for great times in games.
