Can't get ACR preorder download as my avatar 'is female'

Hello, apologies if this is in the wrong section. I'm new!

Anyway, I preordered Assassin's Creed Revelations through Amazon(UK). There was an offer if you preordered. You would be emailed a free code so you could download Ezio's hoody for your Xbox 360 avatar.

I received the game yesterday and my code. I entered the code, only to get an error message saying that the hoody 'only fits male avatars. Your avatar is female.'

So, if I wish to download it, I would need to change my avatar to male. Which I think is really ridiculous as surely, avatars, being made of CGI, have a 'one size fits all' policy. Also, I think it is unfair for Ubisoft, who provided Amazon with the code, to assume everyone buying the game is male.

I'm not going to change my avatar to male just so I can use the hoody. And to be honest, I'm a little offended that they expect me to do so. It's also misadvertising on Amazon's part.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a female hoody code out there?

Thats really stupid, why should it matter if your avatar is male or female? Are they using some kind of FOX News logic where they are afraid it will encourage cross-dressing or something?

Whether you agree or not about it being misadvertising, I still feel it is unfair that female players have to change their avatar to use the hoody when male players don't. It simply is not fair.

Well that's just silly....

I'm with the OP here, definitely misadvertising if there was no warning included that the hoody was male-only.

Not cool at all.

No just no. They advertised that you get an Ezio hoody for your xbox 360 avatar. You got an Ezio hoody for your xbox 360 avatar.
Yeah. It'd be like if you bought a car and you expected it to not burst into flames once you drove it off the lot...

Kinda sucks. Preordering Halo:CE Anniversary got me some spartan armour, but they gave me two codes, one for male and one for female.

What a loss.

This isn't some sexist plot to offend women nor is it really something to get upset over. Probably just some misstep on their part.

Looks like you'll have to enjoy your new game without the hood.

Have you tried E-mailing them about it? Maybe it's some kind of error. I really have trouble believing Amazon (or whoever is behind the promotion) would be stupid enough not to realize that women might want to use the item.

You wanted the Ezia item, not Ezio. Beginner's mistake.
Har har, good one.

Anyway, it's probably just an oversight, nothing to make a fuss about; just give them a heads up, I'm sure they can make it work for female avatars.

I'd like to understand how anyone can justify this being the OP's fault here.
She pre-ordered the game on the understanding she would receive a bonus and is now being told that that bonus does not apply on some of the most egregiously bullshit grounds I've ever come across.

Also sexist jokes? Really? I thought we'd grown up as a society.

On the downside... sucks to hear that OP, I would contact Amazon and see what they can do, if anything.

No she didn't.

Her avatar can't use the hoody, so she in effect never got her hoody.

I don't see how you can argue otherwise.

Unless they made it perfectly clear that only male avatars could use the hoody then it wasn't advertised correctly, sooooo, misadvertisment.
@Satsuki666: This.

I should probably stop laughing at you now and mention that all of the outfits for your 360 avatar that came with the ACR preorder are for both male and female.
That sure explains the error message then. Wait...
