Unfortunatly I can't play the new Zelda, I'm a big fan of Zelda, but the game being an Wii exclusive I find it a little bit expansive just to play 30 ish hours.
I don't want to spend 200+$ for the wii just for that one game (note that no other game interest me really that me on the wii)

So should company have alternative to those with the same problem?
I feel a little bit scammed that I can't give my money to support such great game because I don't want to pay for the support.
Even then, I bought a PS3 from a friend and I played about 5 games on it and barely touch it once a month, I slightly would have feel scammed if I would have payed 250+$ for a new one.

Do you have the same problem with an exclusive game on a console you don't own
Do you think that developer should make less exclusive?
Do you think it can hinder anything from doing so?
What would be a nice alternative to cash out the 200$ for a support only if you want one or two game?
Is a half priced console with some restrictiveness be feasible?

That's a problem I have with most Xbox exclusives.

There are so few good games (Halo, Gears, Fable), why limit them to one console?

Expand the market and let other console players give them a shot. (Or atleast provide a decend PC port.)

exclusives are meant to drive console sales, so I don't think anything will ever be offered to undermine that.

that being said, I wish there were. I miss my playstation only series

I have the opposite viewpoint, I like console exclusive games. Games that are console exclusive give me the excuse I want to (eventually) get each system. Also, if it is a console exclusive game, you're looking at a game that is optimized to work on the hardware that it was designed for.

There's no good way to do a cheaper priced console just because you want one game. If you want the game bad enough, you're going to have to take the hit. Or do what I do, own one system (360 in my case), allow the other consoles to generate multiple exclusives, then buy the console you don't have after it's dropped a lot (especially with Black Friday sales!)

It's also good because of competition. Microsoft is going to have to continue to fight and make their exclusives better in order to convince you to buy a 360 over a PS3. Remove that competition and you'll end up with a for-profit business dominating, which is never a good thing (seriously...never ever a good thing).

I know it all about competition, console war and greed.
the problem is there no other exclusive to WII that I want or will want (except maybe the new Mario just to try but not buy) so what I do? wait 3 years until the console is only 50$ and all the new PS4 XBOX720 and such are already out? meh.. :p
oh well, other than saying "they are not getting my money" I can't do much

I'm in the same boat: the only reason I don't own a PS3 is because my brain can wrap around the idea of spending $300 on Uncharted 3. Despite the 360 and PS3 having only a handful of exclusive series' (not counting downloadable releases and backwards compatibility), I feel the Wii is built almost entirely on exclusives. Even the titles it shares with the rest of the market offer unique experiences for better or worse (i.e. Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition).

Unfortunately, it looks like the only thing you can do to play Skyward Sword is wait. I honestly couldn't recommend buying a Wii at this point given that it's got a rather short lifespan before the Wii U launches next year.

This is why I have friends with different consoles, sure they always get first crack because it's their stuff, but when I do get to play they enjoy my reactions and commentary on new stuff. They apparently find me facinating when it comes to new content, just as well I let them play on my Wii (I am enjoying the living essence out of Skyward Sword btw) and I enjoy their company as well, as friends should.

I do have to say though it is a nice thought to have multiple consoles, but lacking in funds I can only rely on Wii and PC at the moment, which incidently I was pondering the idea of trading away TF2 hats and other items for a new Steam copy of Batman AC, but according to sources I probably do not have enough hats.

If that's what it takes, then yes, you wait for 3 years until the console drops to the price you're willing to spend. The console exclusive system is not going to go away and as I stated, I think would be horrible if it were to go away.

I'm not playing Skyward Sword either,
Why? ever heard of the horrible net censorship bill SOPA? Guess who's name poped up on a list of supporters? That's right the big N. I know both EA and Sony where on that list, but I don't care about any of the PS3's exclusives regardless of the fact that I own one, and I already hated EA, I was surprised at Nintendo, I used to idolize them.

Even though we're all pretty certain this bill wont pass, and even if it did Obama already said he'd veto it, it's the principal of the thing, when Nintendo put their name on that list they said that they supported net censorship, and as an avid opponent of all censorship I can not in good conscious give money to anyone who supports anything I hate this much, if I buy Skyward Sword, it will be used, to ENSURE that not a dime I spend on it goes to Nintendo.

You could always rent a nintendo wii from somewhere, or buy one second hand. Who says you have to buy a brand new wii just to play zelda? Maybe even wait until stores have zelda for rent aswell.
Console exclusive games are good, they help rack up sales for a particular console. Lets say 4 different games you want are all available on different platforms, of course you will go and buy the games on the platform you prefer. If the 4 games were exclusive to one console then that may warrant you buying the console to play those games (and more exclusive ones to come). Exclusive games are a good sales pitch. Also one that doesnt come across as douchey.

Well its too bad because the almost only video store open in my area doesn't rent console anymore
I know I could buy it pre-owned but its still 150+$ so the difference is minimal.

I understand for game such has Zelda to be a good sale pitch for nintendo, because nintendo made it, but I can't really understand for non related developer, its doesn't make em more money selling on one console or two, I can't tell about numbers but I'm sure a non-exclusive can get a little bit more sale than an exclusive. Unless people from Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo give money to developer to be exclusive?

I'd still like to play RDR. I don't own a console, don't know anyone who owns a console (Well, my sister has a Wii but RDR isn't on the Wii), and I hate using controllers for first or third person games.

Why the surprise, though? Nintendo has a notoriously hardcore anti-piracy stance, one that is among the most draconian in the industry...

Yeah. I find it rather short sighted of developers to not release at the least a PC version. Yes, it provides incentive to buy a console, but there is nothing that would make me get one. I would rather spend those 250$ upgrading my PC and getting games, and I most I know are the same. Honestly its costing the company a fair few sales. I get some of the reasons why they don't release it for other platforms, but they are only losing sales by doing so.
In the end I don't really mind as there are enough PC exclusive games and multiplatform games for me to enjoy myself on, but console exclusives have always baffled me as to how its a good idea... Eh, W/E. Don't make it for my platform you don't get my sales.

Of course you can. Go buy the game anyway. If support is your only concern, then it shouldn't matter that you don't play it.

Not really. Most are crap. The rest don't bug me much.

Do you think that developer should make less exclusive?
They already have. There are few exclusives nowadays. The outlier is Nintendo, and I'm hard pressed to see a model where they will develop for rival companies.

Do you think it can hinder anything from doing so?
Explain

What would be a nice alternative to cash out the 200$ for a support only if you want one or two game?
Not playing the games. It's an awesome alternative that has saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars. There are so many games for the consoles I DO have that it'd be absurd to whine I can't play a handful of titles.

Is a half priced console with some restrictiveness be feasible?
Elaborate.
