EDIT: Changed it to Anarchy. Cause of Max's point, and because complete and utter chaos always gets the blood pumping.
And couldn't you have added a poll?

I'd rather have a system in place that makes use of the nature of mankind for the betterment of mankind. This is why I support capitalism.

Im not going to be the guy who says 'use the search bar'.
Everyone hates that guy. Even that guy hates that guy.

Capitalism. Greed is the most powerful motivating factor in human nature.
Greed is why people build, invent and show up for work.
Communism is a system that is designed to protect the lazy.
Yes, ive read the communist manifesto, and i still disagree with it.

Well Gee, OP, you make them both sound so wonderful.
You make it sound like: how do you want to die: Sharks or Bears?

OT: Capitalism, for the above reasons mainly because I have been Ninja'd twice already.

capitalism is the worst system except for all the other ones

it is my opinion that most of the people who cheerlead for socialism really just says that to be popular with girls majoring in political science.

Furthermore, capitalism by itself could be great or terrible, it is my opinion that one needs capitalism with generally libertarian political principles to have palpable freedom. Capitalism with ever growing socialist tendencies is what america has been "enjoying" for the last 20 years, despite the generally "republican" leadership.

Finally, i think its hilarious when people who post on the internet cheer for anarchy.

Yeah, like the internet is still going to be around.

Communism is a fantastic idea, but it's all but impossible to keep the people motivated enough to keep working and innovating if they're not going to earn any more for it. Maybe communism with bonuses?

Still, why does it have to be one extreme or the other?

I don't see why it has to be either one. Both have good ideas. They say that nationalizing health care is a socialist move, but it's good to have health people, even if they can't afford to be.

Capitalism. You get what you pay for--or in this case, what you work for. It's only fair.

Socialism breeds laziness.

Capitalism all the way. Socialism demands that the government has way too much power to.

1) Capitalism has this nice distinction of assuming that people possess brains and allowing them to use their money as they see fit, while at the same time requiring them to be responsible for their actions.

2) The world's experience with socialism is that it ends up with an overgrown parasite of a government, a large percentage of the population being unable to cope for themselves and needing government agencies to wipe their bums, and yes, I am going to quote the Iron Lady: "The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money".

Yes, I have used a rather black and white distinction here, but capitalism still wins with practical socialism.

Ah, yes, a fantastic idea, but a lot of things look great on paper... Just take a look at all the post-communist countries and see all the fruit the commie-tree has born them...

all three of the major economic philosophies(communism, capitalism, socialism) are good on paper. but communism places to much power in to few hands and they inevitably corrupt. Capitalism is a great system if everyone wasn't a prick, but when people eventually claw their way up to the top they take the opportunity to shit on everyone below them. socialism is great if you don't care about being incredibly rich, the obvious flaw being there are a lot of people who believe they can make lots of money, and in socialism it's not possible to become anywhere near what americans call rich(bill gates, movie stars, athletes).

I personally prefer socialism but that's me. however if you think communism or a fully free market is the best, your retarded. They've both been proven not to work and you should be ashamed of your stupidity.

and yes that means all that's left besides socialism is a regulated capitalist system, it's what the US has now, so if you like that that's what you should be rooting for, not free market capitalism.

So I know that Russia proved the communism can't work...when did capitalism get proven not to work?

That sounds like an obscure Army of Darkness reference. On topic, I think that choosing between capitalism and socialism is like choosing whether you want to open up a magazine to see that it is half full of ads or half full or propaganda.

not capitalism, free market capitalism, where the market basically has no regulation. Look up the gilded age to see what I'm talking about, it's worse greed than any you've ever seen.
EDIT: I've just skimmed through the wikipedia page and I don't think it does the age justice so I'll elaborate.

essentially it was a period of time when the majority of americans had their lives owned by a few men. the whole thing revolved around monopolies. because there was no competition the companies would eventually become one big conglomeration and own one aspect of society, so there was one railroad company, one oil company, one steel company. so when you wanted to ride on a train you had to pay whatever price they said. not to mention because of the vast wealth accumulated by the people at the top of these companies they bought senators and congressmen so they could keep the laws in their favor.

now this all occurred because of the lack of regulation, it's why we have regulation now, because people at heart are bastard coated bastards with bastard filling, so we regulate the economy so we don't have a repeat of the gilded age, where a few rich people glossed over the massive amount of poverty there was in our nation.

capitalism with regulation is definitely one of the good two economic theories(along with socialism), it just comes down to personal preference.
