I hate this security features with such undying passion. Just tried resetting my gf's blizz password for her and due to the insanely impossible to read captcha phrases I entered said security code incorrectly too many times thus locking me out of the account. Why do must these captcha codes be squished together beyond reason? Is there not a just as effective yet more sensible way in adding this level of security? Even as I'm attempting to post this I'm being asked a security question to which I honestly have no clue to!

I have a lot of trouble reading them sometimes, it's kinda frustrating and it makes me feel really stupid that I can't figure it out.

Are you sure you're not a robot?
That could be the source of all your captcha woes...
Realistically they're the most effective ways, they probably could get some better images though, ones that are more legible.
Also if you're referring to reCAPTCHA it's to translate old documents, everything else is to piss you off :D

Made me laugh lol, but ya, now I'm forced to take the time to clall blizz and (almost undoubtedly) hold for about 20 min to fix the situation.

You know what I hate with a passion?
If you don't want to know, you're free to ignore my rant, otherwise you've no reason to chastise me for complaining.
I fucking hate the new captchas with ads in them. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, good for you. They're annoying as all hell, because they force you to watch an ad, then reveal some long-ass message pertaining to the advertisement.
Yes, they're easy to read, but fuck you I already have to watch a thirty minute ad on YouTube, when I want to download any file from any site, and even when I'm browsing dA and one of them pops up all over the damn screen... Hell, I avoid TV now because what's on is less worth it to sit through half hour commercials anymore...
You know what? I want your product even less now... I'm going to go out of my way to avoid it.
Go die in a fire...

On other sites, captchas are obnoxious and intrusive.
On the Escapist, they're at least funny at times.

Agreed, whenever I get an ad captcha, I instantly hit the cycle button.
Just for a laugh, we should describe the brand with an appropriately obscene word.
captcha: mea culpa. Sod your insincerity, captcha!

To defeat automated recognition of letter and number shapes. The squigglier they are, the harder they are for a machine to figure out. Theoretically, anyway.

Captcha is according to me pretty OK, only pops up once every 5 posts maybe.
On other sites adn the old capctha on this site is usually very very horrible.

Just to clarify I am referring to battle.net captchas as I have had little problem with the ones here, though am slightly annoyed by the advertisement involved.

I just tell the new captcha that it's sexy and the only girl for me and that usually clears things up. I don't see another captcha for at least ten posts afterwards.

I tried again but it failed and gave me this instead...

We need captchas to defend ourselves from the approaching cyborg menaces! They cannot feel love or read captchas, and these are all that stand between them and global domination.

Just keep mashing refresh until an easy one comes up, and the Escapist ones are usually fine.

That's what I do as well!

Seriously those particular Captchas are useless as they accept "fgbdshgd" (aka slaping the keyboard once or twice) as a correct answer.

But on the occasion I do type in a sentence descrbing the brand I put down one word.

Which is four letters and begins with 'S', ends with 'T' and has 'H' and 'I' inbetween.
(and yes it is accepted as an answer)
