Hello Everyone

I am thinking about capturing some gameplay footage of Mass Effect 3 and this is my first time doing this. As far as I can tell I need a video capture card and a PC. I have the PC but not the card, so I am wondering if there are suggestions for a good card to use. I am looking for something inexpensive to see if I am any good at it before I get more involved.

Thanks
Graeme

For a cheap entry level capture device I recommend one of these [http://www.ezcap.tv/usb-game-capture-device/ezcap116-ezgamer-capture-card] - It's simple and easy to use however it will obviously only capture SD content. If you want to capture HD you might try this [http://www.ezcap.tv/usb-game-capture-device/ezcap152-capture-card]...I've not used one myself but I assume it's built to the same standards as the SD alternative. If eBay is anything to go by a HDMI capture card is going to set you back at least $85 [http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370712852052] with on-brand stuff starting at over $110, however if you want to capture via HDMI and still output to your TV set you'll probably need a standalone capture device. You could always hook your computer to your TV or play on your computer screen via the capture preview however in all likelihood that will have pretty bad latency.

I've used a Hauppague HDPVR for such a thing, but that'll set you back around $150, at least. If you're just starting though and don't really care about how high the quality is for the video, go with what the other guy said or go for a Dazzle DVC kit. Dazzle DVC cards come with some half-decent editing software and the like, though they aren't the best cards for anything professional.
