This question is directed all all the card gamers on the Escapist. Magic, Yugioh, whatever card game you choose to play.

As the topic suggests, what kind of deck do you use in your chosen game?

I recently picked up the most current Yugioh game on the DS (after not playing in 7 years), and after beating it, and FINALLY getting all the cards, I've finally settled on a deck that I'm currently in love with: Aliens.

Hell, the main card in an alien deck is the Yugioh version of Cthulu. What's not to love?

I also used to play Magic: the Gathering, and while I sold most of my cards off when I quit, I hung onto my favorite Magic deck, my Kaldra deck. Sure, he's difficult to summon, but when he's out, it's always so satisfying to smash my enemies with him:

So, what about the rest of you?

I seriously came into this thread thinking we would be talking about poker decks. My nerdiness levels clearly aren't high enough for this site. . .

Hah, that's a lie, I'm a complete nerd, I just enjoy poker.

I play Urban Rivals, and I usually play heavy hitting T2 decks (no limitations on cards or total level of deck!)
I started off playing as La Junta (A kind of freedom fighter clan based on the military) but now I have nearly all the cards I tend to swap and change between all the clans!

Right now I have 2 Magic decks for Innistrad. My White/Green Villagers deck, and my red/black Vampire deck.

In Yu-Gi-Oh I have (not physically, but I have this deck in all the YU-Gi-Oh video games I have) a Zombie deck, primarily constructed by merging the Zombie World and Zombie Madness structure decks. Mostly it runs swarm tactics but it can be a pretty solid beat-down deck too.

The only card games I played were Yugioh and Pokemon. I hardly play anymore, but I will occaisonally pick up my Yugioh deck and play a few games.

I use the Crystal Beasts.

As for Pokemon, My deck was a mixture of water and electric type pokemon, it was a very basic deck and I wasn't very good at the game. Now I just collect the cards for fun and to see if I can get any rares.

It's the bottom half of the Lugia Legend card, was really proud of this one.

I also got this awesome Reshiram and I really want this N card, but it hasn't been given an english version.

Yeah so I'm more of a collector now than a player when it comes to pokemon but I do enjoy a good game of Yugioh every now and then, I've just stopped buying them.

Since I play Magic the Gathering, I prefer the Elder Dragon Highlander format (100 card limit including the General which also serves as the colour them for the deck. No cards other than basic land can be repeated.)

I use my Dragon deck for it.

I've played Yu-Gi-Oh! since it came out. Lucky for me my rare in my first booster back was Dark Magician. I felt so awesome. I imagine a first edition Dark Magician would be worth a lot now.

I either try to make a theme out of what cards I can. I never have all of what I need for a theme. Otherwise I just pick cards I like or find fun, and maybe use a variety of cards for different situations. I try to make my fun as varied as possible. Sticking to the same strategy sounds like it'd get boring.

In magic I'm currently running a green ramp list centred on Dungrove Elder with middling success. Trying to put together a Bant Birthing Pod list as well.

Ancient Gear crusher/Machine Deck for Yu gi oh.

I just click on how to use machines and ancient gears are the one theme of machines I am instrested in.

Also get Limiter Removal that turns any feild of machines into titans for one turn atleast. After that they are destroyed. So if i am countered it can be bad. How ever I can make a 1200ATk monster go to 2400 or evena 3000 atk monster to 6000. Or put mutiple equips and get over 8000ATK to the one monster.

If its an Ancient gear monster then. It will mostly have the effect "Cannot activate traps or spells during an attack untill after the damage step." Meaning for the entire time my monster attacks it cant be countered. So cards that say the start of an attack or during or even when damage step is. All negated. Meaning I am able to to just power through.

Its called Crusher for a reason.

actually nope megrim and caress are to slow and I punish the opponent for not having cards rather than discarding them that way I don't have to worry about refilling there hand.

Finishers:
4 Quest for the Nihil Stone Burns opponents for there hands being empty
3 Nyxathid Beater that hurts the opponent for having no cards
4 The Rack Burns opponents for having no cards

Removal:
4 smallpox Removal that will make my opponent discard and destroy lands

Discard:
4 Chain of Smog Discard 2 for 1 which is great and I don't care if it emptys both of us anyways
2 Blackmail good 1 drop discard and it will hit anything
4 Inquisition of Kozilek good one drop discard
4 Funeral Charm instant speed discard always good.
4 Hymn to Tourach one of the best discard cards ever printed how could I not have 4

Other
3 Phyrexian arena
4 Dark Ritual well this just sets up fun ass combo's

Ramp and land:
20 Swamp

I play the WoW TCG, I tend to run hunters. Right now I have an Aspect Rush deck and a Pet/Control deck. I would love to play an equipment solo hunter, but hunter equipment is terribad right now.

Ah, just my sort of thread :D

Edh/Commander is my favorite format for its laid-back and entertaining environment. Uril is great for a reliable win condition (if not tokens), and Wydwen is a inconspicuous (at first) combo deck.

I also like zoo builds, got a modern/legacy RWG zoo build which I modify depending on the format. I find aggro to be most consistent, though I absolutely love combo :D

And everyone who loves magic, I highly recommend Type 4. It is a blast with lots of people! And you only need one deck to play off of :D

So yeah, Magic is fun :)

Actually, most games I try to build a deck that builds up a ton of power to decimate in a few short turns. Yu-gi-oh for example we allow god cards so I'm nearly untouchable. White/Green in Magic. My pokemon deck actually revolves around a magneton that has an attack that gets stronger for all the energy I have on my field.
