Think we might have had this before but thought I'd ask anyway:

Anyone have any picks for who they want playing Carol Danvers in the MCU? Personally, I'm feeling Natalie Dorner or (longshot) Rhonda Roussey just for her build.

Anyone have other picks? Or things they'd wanna see in this one? (Mar Vell, Rhodey, Carol Corps, Ms. Marvel, etc)

I'm going to quietly hope for Charlize Theron.

Admittedly, after Fury Road I kinda wanna see Theron in all of the action movies though.

Please not Ronda Rousey. I saw her try to act once. I'd rather not see it again. She should stick to bending people's limbs in ways that they do not wish to bend, she's clearly very good at it.

Isn't Brie Larson another front-runner for the role? I'm not sure I've seen her in anything, but she's by all accounts a damn fine actress, and she has the right look.

I generally like Natalie Dormer [in GoT], but I don't want more Brits being cast as Americans in the MCU... I recall her American accent's decidedly iffy, to boot.

Honestly, never pick someone just for their "build". Builds can change (just look at Chris Pratt going from Andy to starlord) acting ability doesn't.

I'm gonna hop on the Charlize theron train
Yeah but this is a female character we are talking about. Actresses rarely change their build too drastically for a role. It happens on occasion, but its best not to bet on it. I mean look at Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

But Captain/Ms Marvel was never super buff so an actual medium sized woman would work. Its not like this is a She Hulk movie.

Yeah, Charlize Theron has my vote if we're going for big name actresses. She's a proven action star at this rate. Bad to the fucking bone.

I'm gonna go completely out of left field! Diamond Jackson! Not only older, but African American. And stupid hot.

A blonde white-woman who commands respect.

As for actual people, someone who enjoys the role and wont later be bailing cause she needs even more money. I hate actor-switching (Hulk), especially when they seem so fit for the role (Iron Man). Probably not super famous people. I kind of like when less known or even newer actors become big, such as in the Netflix shows.

Dwayne Johnson, as Captain Marvel.

And yes, I know we're talking about the Marvel one. So am I.

My biggest hope would be Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck, Battlestar Galactica). Next would be Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha, Vikings). Then Tricia Helfer (Number 6, Battlestar Galactica). Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah, Chuck) and ofcourse for the sake of me being and SJW... Idris Elba

Thirded. I can totally believe Charlize Theron cosmic-power-punching Thanos through a mountain. Remember her in Hitchcock?

Katee Sackhoff, I guess? She's got experience in kicking arse in space (Battlestar Galactica) and being in superhero material (that Power Rangers fan film)

Wait...forget about that last part. 0_0

I agree with everyone against casting for build. I find that sort of stuff silly. Captain Marvel derives her powers from her alien enhanced/altered physiology, no amount of gym workout will let someone lift a 747 above their head.

Huh, well, guess I'll repeal my Rhonda Roussey choice if no-one else sees it. I can get behind Charlize Theron buuuut still don't think Furiosa would be my first pick.

Side note though, Any other characters you guys would particularly want to see in the movie?

Charlize Therons too old now, especially for a character who is most likely going to be in movies across the years. Also too big of a name.

You get actors like Pratt when you know they have potential but haven't made it big yet.

Love Rhonda Rousey, she's an amazing fighter. She's an absolutely horrendous actress. Theron has proven she's capable of changing her body for a role so I wouldn't be opposed. Brie Larson is a fine actress, I wouldn't mind seeing here tackle this.

Not completely out of left field for a black actress to be cast. The second Captain Marvel was Monica Rambeau a lieutenant in the New Orleans Harbour Patrol.

I can understand them wanting to skip Mar-Vell as Captain Marvel, as the MCU is already guy heavy, but why skip straight to the last person to use the code name?

Why not use Phylla-Vell if they absolutely need to skip to a white blonde woman. As Mar-Vell's daughter she would make the name a legacy more than just a code name. Plus she'd let them show that the MCU is gay friendly.

I can't really offer any suggestions of who to cast as Carol Danvers, as I don't want to see her as Captain Marvel in the movies, at least not at this time.

They are skipping to "Captain Marvel" for Carol to appeal to feminists, despite the fact that Ms. Marvel was called Ms. Marvel in the first place to...apeal to feminists. I suppose one could argue that then its consistent, but whatever. But that was back when "Ms" (ie Miz, instead of Mrs or Miss) was a new prefix that had some people up in arms.

Is Carol the one most likely to appeal to feminists? What does she bring to the table over Monica Rambeau? What feminist appeal is there for the former over the latter.

I know about her history as Ms. Marvel (and Warbird) and that Kamala Khan is the new Ms. Marvel. I just don't see why they need to skip to the last Captain Marvel to introduce the name to the MCU.

Monica Rambeau would be an excellent choice and given her history with him, an easy way to introduce Blade into the MCU.
