Chalkboards. Anybody see them anymore?

I was sitting in my "How to use Windows" class today, (Hahahahahahaa this class is a joke) when I noticed the white board in front of me.

It caused me to remember my days of elementary school when chalkboards were the norm.

Anybody still use chalkboards? I realized today that I haven't seen them in ages.

Just a simple little topic, I feel like the age of chalkboards has passed...

most of our boards are chalkboards. A lot of rooms have smartboards though.

Now that I think about it my school's been gradually phasing them out over the last couple of years. I don't think there's a single one left at this point.

A few of the old buildings at my university still use chalkboards, and it somehow makes lecturers more happy when they can use different coloured chalk (I don't know how this is different to using different coloured white board pens, but apparently it is).

Yeah it's a stupid class. I believe it's for people who have NEVER touched a computer in their lives.

It's required for me to graduate, so, eh, easy A for me.

We usually have both a whiteboard and a blackboard (chalkboard) in each room.

I think that they got rid of them when asthema(sp?) became a big thing dust from chalk was bad for some kids.

Same here. A few classrooms only have one big whiteboard to both project and draw on, mind you.

Well, this one time I-Wait, what's a chalkboard?

Back in my day, we didn't go for these fancy schmancy white boards and video projectors. We had ancient blackboards, forged by the hand of God when He slapped the Earth together. The school was actually built around naturally occurring blackboards. Also, we didn't have chalk in those days. Too expensive. Instead, we had rusty nails and other pieces of corroded metal. If you couldn't see the rust on black because of your poor eyesight, then you were mocked for being weak.

One day, someone decided that the blackboards were too useful, so they came in and painted them dark green, so even the rust wouldn't stick properly. One of the teachers, so riled up at this travesty, bought a blackboard of regulation size out of his own pocket and came in on his day off to set it up, so he could properly do his job of tormenting us with rusty nails.

I've never seen a chalkboard at school. Plenty of blackboards though - very few whiteboards when I were at school.
Calling them chalkboards is caving in to the PC madness that is sweeping the nation.

I think primary schools use blackboards more.

Wow, we've got these boards still everywhere in my school. Also in many other schools in austria, I think. So yeah, seems like noone here really cares for asthma and stuff
Also I hate them...
