Change in FPS's

I was never big on FPS's. Of all of game genres they tend to be the most stagnant, how much can you change the run, shoot, kill, be killed, repeat formula. So i ask all of the big FPS, CoD, BF3 players "Do you think that the most recent iterations of the AAA FPS's will change anything or can you just play BlackOps or Bad Company and save 60+ bucks.

Well I'm not really into FPS games myself, but I love Team Fortress 2. It's classes and behind-the-scenes equipment system makes it stick out in terms of gameplay.
