Hello Escapist dot com members and future friends,

This is a video that I try to watch at least once a quarter. It is about how to succeed - and not fail - in life. It was an address given at USC by Charlie Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, all the way back in 2007.

It is a very enlightening video and I would recommend you watch all five parts if you have an hour to spend. We can even discuss it afterwards, if you would like.

The link to the first part of the video is below, but I have also found notes around the web if you just want to learn the big points. It is probably worth reviewing for those who frequent the Politics and Religion forum.

What do you think about Charlie Munger's ideas? Did you watch the video, or read the notes?

Just watched the first 2 parts.

Main things I've picked up on, are: Provide what you would want to buy.

Which seems only fair and right.

And: Learn something every day.

I guess that'd at least be good brain-exercise, and some of the knowledge could come in useful.

Whelp, I guess I'll go try and learn things about how to make a good story. (I still believe this was the reason I failed the Eleven Plus Exam, I had to write a short story, but had no idea how to even start, and thus wrote nothing.)

Hi Coppernerves,

Make sure to watch the rest of the video. There are great insights that you haven't gotten to yet, such as the application of inversion to day-to-day life as practiced by Carl Jacobi.

I do think that it's a good idea to continue learning every day. I try to; I have purchased a Kindle in order that I can spend my half hour commute to and from work each day to continue educating myself.

Let me know what your thoughts on the video are once you have finished. It is worthwhile.
