Cheap costume ideas

Greetings fellow Escapists. It's that time of year again, where for one brief day cosplay is not only socially acceptable, but also greatly encouraged with the handing out of candy and other delicious foodstuffs. But alas, I am but a lowly poor and unemployed college student, who must jump on any opportunity for free food in order to eat every day. The drawback is that I'm not terribly creative, and in fact suck quite hard at coming up with and executing costume ideas, and I know I'm not the only one out there with those particular problems. Can anyone recommend a cheap (20-30 USD)costume that's nice and geeky? While there are other costume idea threads, they're old and don't have a specific budget in mind.

Though, assuming you're male, you could wear jeans and a long-sleeved white button up shirt, black hair dye/wig, paint on some bags under your eyes and voila! L! If you're a girl you can just get bunny ears and a cotton ball on your belt.

Well, I myself got an old trenchcoat from a salvation army thrift store, shaved my head bald and kept a neatly trimmed circle beard last year. Kane from Command and Conquer.
There's always the classic Phantom of the opera. White shirt, black pants, possibly an overcoat and/or cape, and the half mask.

I can't suggest a specific costume, but it is amazing what you can do with liquid latex.

Brilliant. I may even have a buddy in theater who can do some makeup gashes and such. Definitely a possibility.

I'm sorry, I just can't stand those movies. I make it a habit to punch people as hard as I can when they dress like anyone from Jackass for halloween. The way I see it I'm just adding to their character and they should be expecting it anyways.
