I hate the checkpoint system when its a PC game, especially when they do not allow a Save anywhere function.

I have to rant due to just purchasing Velvet Assassin and finding out it has NO Save function outside checkpoint, and this one part is a pain to do, and I keep having to redo about 2 minutes of work, then listening to a conversation for the one person to go back on patrol till I can attempt to knock them out with my knife. It is very frustrating..

No Quick Save/Load(Nor Save/Load) function on a Stealth game = Massive Fail. Especially with a Checkpoint system that seems random and inconsistent.

Checkpoints just force you to be more careful. Depending on a game checkpoints can be good or bad. A stealth game with checkpoints is not a bad system at all considering you keep the challenge of going from point A to point B instead of being able to save before venturing out of your little safe hiding spot. However checkpoint saves can be a pain because of like you said conversations and unskipable cutscenes. As an added note I have not played velvet assassin nor even heard of it. I like my comforatble spot under a rock.

I don't mind a game with checkpoints, so long as it doesn't pull a massive dick move on you afterwards. If I save, I'm ok if I turn around and see a horde of shotgun-wielding zombies humping my leg. What I don't want is to save the game, fight whatevers there and then find an even bigger horde of them which always manage to kill me somehow- that just means I have to trawl through all of what I just did through the last ten minutes.

No quicksaves in a PC game is certainly a travesty, but I don't see why console games can't have them either. Is it because they don't have enough RAM? Is it because there aren't enough buttons on the controller? Is it because it's too hard to code a "QUICKSAVE" button in the pause menu?

I agree its like an autosave, I just like more control over my saving function. :| It irks me when I want to enjoy a game without the trappings of what a developer thinks makes it more fun in their mind.

Basically, it feels like I have less control over my actions. Especially when having to redo something that I listened to once, was funny, then have to listen to it 10 times as I figure out the correct course of action(not to mention doing something over and over before said cutscene).. Eh, just moaning/*****ing mostly on my part.

I like pie.

You know what I hate? Any game that doesn't have a quick save feature. It annoys the hell out of me.

I wish console games had quick saves....
