I did not find this is the search bar

Who was your childhood hero when you were little?

When I was a little kid my hero was guyver a japanese superhero. I remember first seeing the movie when I was five.

You can pick anyone from videogames, movies, real people, ect.

Batman.

And then I found out he's a sadistic bastard with a morally grey agenda.

So he's my hero now, too.

My Gran. She was widowed very young. Worked at McDonald's until she was 75 to make a living. Lived through the Great Depression. And she never failed to help you out when you were in need.

She was a singular woman.

The Punisher. I thought his methods of brutally mudering, maiming and torturing criminals was the way forward, and the kind of thing I wanted to grow up and do... I'm serious.

Anyone with tights like those must have something wrong with them.

OT: Jack Churchill.
He fucking charged a cannon with a broadsword in WWII.
How can I not idolize him?

Never really had a childhood hero as such IRL or fictional.

I always thought Jean from the Outlaw Star anime was pretty cool as a kid. But I've never really had any heroes or mentors per se. That Swedish sniper guy (Simo Hayha?), and the strikers during the industrial revolution in America are pretty damn awesome though. Emma Goldman and the Haymarket Riots, Eugene Debs and whatnot. Also, the Spanish anarchists during 1936 were pretty inspiring.

Although the phrase "childhood hero" reminds me of this

Luke Skywalker. I always wanted to be a Jedi when I was a kid. I had hopes to build a lightsaber and everything.

An officer without his sword is improperly dressed.

OT: I can't actually remember if I actually idolised anyone as a wee kiddiewinkle.

No, I've trawled and trawled, and either have brutally repressed my formative years for reasons we shall not speak of again, or was a self-absorbed conceited little shit, which is what all children should be, because they are on the path to the right idea - narcissism is a great way to boost your self esteem, and don't worry about those ol' confidence issues - who cares what the crowd thought of your speech? They don't understand the finer vagaries of it because you are just that awesome.

Bur at the moment, now that I'm a world-weary, seen-it-all-before, angsty and generally stereotypically grumpy teen (seriously, I don't even notice the grumpy part - others tell me I have it, which annoys me), I'm making up for it by idolising Stephen Fry, Douglas Adams and Jesus (I mean c'mon, even though I'm an Atheist, Jesus was way cool).

Richard Feynman. Because he worked on the atomic bomb, figured out what happened to the Challenger, and was also crazy awesome, i.e. picked the locks on people's safes in Los Alamos where they developed THE BOMB. He never actually stole stuff, just did it to show that the "security measures" ultimately meant nothing. That's just the tip of his awesome iceberg.

Muchas Gracias.

I should also add she made the best rhubarb pie ever. Seriously. People ate and loved that pie that wouldn't touch rhubarb with a ten foot pole.

She would probably be mad if I didn't mention her pie. :)
