I'll spare you some of the web sites with offensive photos of fetus' literally being eaten in Southern China. I also do not know if they are totally real as of yet, but this has been confirmed.... All I have to say is WTF.. I am a firm believer in relativism, as cannibalism is acceptable for extreme survival (no murder) and as a religious practice in a small Indian community, but to full blown just eat babies or take then into your body because someone told you there good for you is outrageous... http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/rights-so-divine/2012/may/10/chinese-cannibalism-infant-flesh-outrages-world/

chinese medicine has so much to answer for. its just barbaric and vile the crimes committed in its name.

"its just a fetus. it got aborted" its not just a fetus its full term infants as well. it completely devalues humanity into being a food product. it is a human rights violation. if you dont see anything wrong with it then you are deluded.

step back for a second. these are people that think nothing of microwaving and griding up dead babies for chinese medicine, you really think they only use aborted fetuses?

hell if chinese medicine said that a 40 year old s flesh was the healthiest to eat you would be having people killed for it
Shit like this just needs to end. They have bears that are kept "alive" in cages with a tube dripping bile out of them. Just because some idiot says "it's good for something".
Same thing goes for the rumour that "raping a new born or albino will cure you of AIDS" that goes around in certain African communities.

Does it work? Short answer: No. Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

But how will you educate people living in the 3rd world about such matters? It's no easy task, sadly.

Well, I guess this is one tradition that's going to be aborted soon.

But seriously, I don't really see the problem with this, I mean who's harmed? The fetus' have already been aborted, and they never even had a mind or consciousness, so it's not like they're going to care what happens to their body. It also appear from the article that the fetus tissue is treated in a way that would destroy any harmful infections, so the risk to the patient seems minimal. I guess you could argue that the medicine is most likely useless but hey, if someone is an adult they should be able to choose their own medicine right?

?The tiny corpses are then bought, stored in household refrigerators in homes of those involved in the trade before they are removed and taken to clinics where they are placed in medical drying microwaves.

?Once the skin is tinder dry, it is pummeled into powder and then processed into capsules along with herbs to disguise the true ingredients from health investigators and customs officers.?

Yeah, nope. Cannibalism of healthy post-born babies is a no-no. But good luck trying to get the Chinese government to do something about it.

Comforting to know that Eastern alternative medicine is as retarded as Western alternative medicine I guess.

EDIT: Apparently people are saying the story is fake. In which case Westerners still hold the "Stupidest Alternative Medicine" award.

Cannibalism is a time honored tradition of humanity. Many cultures practiced it at one point or another, others still practice some form of it. Think about it long and hard next time you eat a communion wafer in church.

No baby burgers for me though, it would probably go straight to my hips.

Well that was one of the more interesting of recent Google image searches, thanks. Not the most upsetting, so there's that going for it.

Taken on its own, you might be able to handwave it with the point of no suffering endured, but it's still pretty fucked up.

I dunno, everytime I hear some sensational, shocking thing about cannibalism in China (baby soup, 人肉包子 etc.), it's proven to be a tabloid-style hoax. I'm honestly not convinced that this isn't just another example of that.

Edit: Clicking onthe author's name and glancing at her profile gives me even more suspicion.

Plus side: they aren't murdering live babies...other side...fetuses are...morally on the grey side when it comes to harming them...so...yeah...I don't like kids to begin with so feel free to ignore this one. I wouldn't eat one but that's just me...I wouldn't eat Berut either though given the choice between one or the other I would...well, I'd go Berut I guess then vomit a lot.

Doesn't consuming human tissue habitually eventually lead to nasty degenerative diseases of some sort?
If someone with knowledge of the subject could tell me I'd be grateful.

Would you say that this topic isn't quite to your taste? I understand, it is quite difficult to stomach that people are doing this.

Kids are actually quite delicious if you cook them right, too much though and they start tasting like extra-chewy pork :-/

I will probably get completely flamed for this, but this sort of illustrates one of the core things that faith or religion (when properly functioning) does bring to a people. The deep rooted philosophical concept that each and every individual has worth and merit. And that that worth is not determined or judged by other men. This is kind of the core phillosophical component of the soul. It is from that root that our entire modern concepts of freedom, liberty and democracy bloom. and it sort of self imposes a structure on a society that tends to prevent this sort of nastiness. Only in a society where individual human life has no true intrinsic value could something this horrifying be possible. and communist philosophy has spent generations insuring that individual life has no value beyond that assigned it by the state.

It's just a fetus. It got aborted. Kind of sickening to think of eating it, but I don't see the big problem besides a health concern. Generally we tend to be careful in handling that kind of stuff.

Not seeing the so called human rights violation the author of the article speaks of, unless the author thinks abortion is a human rights violation, a view to which I'd vehemently disagree.
This has been around for a while and periodically causes outrage. There are a few issues here, one of which is simply Cannibalism being wrong, as much as a "moral judgement" as that might be, simply allowing humans to be viewed as food or something to consume by other humans is a big deal. The second, and most important issue, is that this represents a big business and of course the question arises as to how they meet the supply. Investigations into the practice over the years, many of which had the information silenced, have tied the entire thing to both the Chinese Government and organized crime. The bottom line being that when there is a value assigned to something like an aborted fetus, people are going to find ways to farm them. Leading to cases where women are forcibly impregnated, aborted, and then have their dead babies ground up to make pills. Something which sounds implausible until you consider China's record of both human rights, and women's rights in particular, not to mention he corruption within their law enforcement system where they allegedly take female inmates and force them to "work" by churning out fetal matter. Something which sounds outlandish until you consider for a while the Chinese prison system was being used to farm MMO gold and sell it, a practice which China allegedly cracked down on, but still continues apparently. In that case however it was easier to prove despite the "Bamboo Curtain" by following some of the transactions through the MMOs themselves. One also has to remember China's "mobile execution chambers" (look up "Chinese death van") which allegedly were designed to go to prisons to perform executions, but in reality are used to pick up "criminals" hold a speedy trial via remote with them strapped down, and then execute them by harvesting the organs which can then be quickly transported to hospitals (articles about this are harder to find now, but were very common when the death vans were first revealed). As a result it's pretty easy to take "Chinese Baby Farms" as more than a bit of whacked paranoia... especially when you consider that at the end of the day those pills are bloody insane, and they are meeting the demand somehow.

You might be thinking of the kuru disease. Destroys your nerves or something and makes your body shake. Eventually leads to death. Don't think it's that wide spread and that you can only get it from eating a person already sick with it, though I'm not entierly sure.

Yeah, I'm also calling BS on this, thanks. It doesn't help that the article is over a year old.

I think this is someone trying way too hard to be Jonathan Swift.

"I don't see a problem with this, who gets harmed?"

The people kept in the underground market as fetus birthing slaves, of course.

Because if there's a sudden demand for human fetus flesh, you can bet someone out there will find a way to produce it...

"What's wrong with drugs? It's harmless, and my body!" It's also grown and harvested by slaves at gunpoint.

Ignorance is bliss, 1st world countries... bliss.
