Years back I used to write stuff all the time. Short stories and whatnot. It seems over the past 10 years I've slowly lost the ...whatever to write. I have these ideas in my head, I actually have one specific story COMPLETELY in my head, and I cannot, for whatever reason, commit it to paper (or computer for that matter).

Just wondering what those of you in here who are of the creative writing ilk, do to snap out of the writer's block. Do I need a Cher-like figure to slap me in the face screaming "SNAP OUT OF IT!"?

Lemme know what you think. I always had people saying that my writing was good, but I haven't written anything in about four years now.

Thanks for any suggestions.

SNAP OUT OF IT!
Did that help?

In order to snap out of writers block I stop writing, giving myself time to recollect the thought juices (delicious delicious thought juices).

I usually go for a run and try to just think about the idea vaguely and sort of let the logical conclusion come to mind. If that doesn't work, i just try to sit down and write something, which gets the ball rolling or at very least gives me sort of a skeleton of what I want that I can go back and change when I'm feeling adequately inspired.

ugh. Don't wanna think about your delicious thought juices. lol. Well I pretty much gave up on writing and just didn't think about it at all. But I'll every now and then get an idea for a story, but when it comes to writing it, it just doesn't come across. I need one of those machines from The Tommyknockers.

Now THAT would be pimp! Just..you know...without the ending.

Write erotica, bad erotica. Make yourself laugh while doing it. Seriously, it will get the lead out, and then apply that to your serious stuff. Also, listen to podcasts while writing, or music or ebooks.

Well, then write bad children's nursery rhymes. Hell if you can't do that, describe your computer, in detail.
