EDIT: so this topic is regarding the following things:

1) if you could choose any country to live in where would it be and why?

2) i hate that when your filling in profile information you have to select 'uk' and cant select your actually country. duno about anyone else but i come from england and as much as i love the united kingdom i wanna be able to select my country - i mean there are some countries on that list that havent yet been blessed with running water let alone the internet and yet they get representation.

and im making this topic why?:

1) this is a pointless rant im using to avoid doing anything that might assist my entry into university

2) vaguly part of my frustration at the grudual loss of english national identity through both political correctness and the 'united kingdom' tag. i mean yeh its great to have different countries and people united togeather but does that mean that my actual country of birth, despite all of its historic and global significance, doesnt matter to the point where it doesnt even more a list that, for the sake of argument, El Salvador does?

uh...not sure where your going with your rant but as for the title I'd have to say I'd love to live in Ireland. I'd like to go to many other places but Ireland is the one place I'd do just about anything to be able to live there.

You want to be able to select the you come from England? Can anyone here translate that? Regardless, I'll try to answer what I think is the question being posed in the topic title.

I've briefly thought that it might be nice to live in Japan, for the simple fact that I'm looking to get a career as a voice actor, and voice acting is a pretty big thing in Japan. Then again, there's the whole language barrier thing, and I generally don't like being in countries where I can't speak the language.

if i could anywhereeeee ... *thinks*

it'd probably somewhere like califorinia, new zealand/australia, or japan (egypt maybe)

holland is cool but i dont want my eventual children being able to legally consent to sex at 14 lol

and just for Darth Mobius i DO have a sense of our glorious history! you see, we sir, are responsible for deciding what time it is everywhere else in the world. this is mostly because we only want the germans sitting down for their lunch when WE say it's 1 o'clock.

we decide this for the same reason we are twice undefeated world war champions of earth and thats because ENGLAND is so great that it unified itself with those other 'countys' of our wonderful little island that mascarade as countries (you know who you are), took over a 3rd of the world, got bored and gave it back again so we could have another crack sometime in the future - that and we wanted our own olympics

disclaimer: this is written purely for myown amusement and does not reflect any of my real views or that of anyone english... exect perhaps the BNP :)

lol the topic is pretty much just that i wanted something to post about and while inputting my profile information it stuck me that i always have to select 'uk' and theres never an england option.

however the question of what country you would ideal'y like to live in is a pretty good one too =]

Thailand. The baht is so totally worth it. A gigantic meal costs 30 cents Canadian, including tip and valet parking.

It's gotta be Canada for me. 30 million people, 10 million of them have guns
yet I don't think they have more than a thousand murders a year.
Plus I'd like to know how it feels to live in a "real" democracy (I live in Michigan.
I should've been able to vote for the first time in my life on Super Tuesday but nope
the DNP decided to shit on our right to vote and both of those snakes, Obama and Hiliary went along with it. Don't let her fool you, she said she agreed with them back when it looked like she had it without a fight.)

But rant aside Canada has a good economy, good healthcare and a low crimerate so that's good enough for me.

The USA purely because of their college sporting programs and such. Australia just doesn't have enough emphasis on sports development, except for AFL.

Other then that Australia is awesome.

I'm English and proud but if I could live anywhere then it wouldn't be here, I'm too laid back and relaxed for this country, I'd ideally live somewhere in the med, Spain maybe or one of the Greek islands, somewhere with siestas and the culture on mañana.

Believe me, there are times ALL I want from life is to distance myself from those redneck cow-rapists in the mid-west or the pig-rapists in the deep south...
*Slow burn...*

Speaking on behalf of the redneck cow rapists of the Midwest, it may interest you to know we regard California as a state where cults are widely accepted, immigration runs rampant, celebrity status is given freely to anyone no matter how terminally uninteresting, and not a single original idea for television or movies has been had since 1986. As such we wish all the smog, mudslides, and forest fires you can handle. Plus the occasional 9.6 earthquake.

Any deep south pig rapists wishing to chime in, feel free to do so. Also, anyone from areas spared from bestial rapists (the entire eastern seaboard, the Rockies, Alaska & Hawai'i), horn in on this too.

*...and cool down... maybe*

But if I were to actually answer the question instead of lashing out at those who deserve it, I'd have to pick from the seeming erratic list of:

Sweden (I like blondes, real blondes, unlike the vast majority of a state which shall remain nameless)

or... Hawai'i (temperate climate, beaches abound, the perfect place for a convertible)

I would've said Australia, because rear wheel drive performance cars also appeal to me, but I see the Northern Territory has speed limits on it's highways now, so forget it. And forget Germany, the Autobahn has too many people on it, plus speed limits are popping up on all the fun sections.

BONUS POINTS FOR HAWAI'I: A state correctly spelled with an apostrophe in it's name? Sweet!

ALSO: There are differences between the countries of the U.K: The Scots invented golf, the Irish raised drinking to an art form (that's a compliment), and the English somehow made themselves keepers of the world's time. There are other differences, to be sure, but that would require research or thinking on my part, and that's not happening at 3:30 in the morning.

@ original post

You sound pretty right wing. All this 'I want to be England' no exceptions including the first sentence of point 2 under 'making this topic'.
