Christmas movies you watch EVERY year

It's Christmas time, and this is the time of year when nothing but Christmas movies will be showing on a lot of channels. Some bad, but then there are those that you will watch regardless. You have made it a sort of mission to watch it every year since you first watched it. Maybe even bought a copy of the movie just to fulfill that desire.

What movies are those.

For me, first up, The Grinch! (The one with Jim Carrey.) I enjoyed the crap out of it when it first came out and I have enjoyed it since. It's one of those few GOOD Live-Action Adaptations that just gets everything right for me. The comedy just hits with me and the story is just really well made. Sure, The Whos of Whoville may not look right at times, but it seems to keep it's charm despite that.

Next up, The Polar Express. All I can say is WHAT A MOVIE! Seriously, if you haven't watched it yet, please do so. This story of a boy who has lost his belief in Santa and gets on a train ride that helps him get it back is really good. The Conductor is by far my favorite character of the movie. He is that guy who, despite taking his job VERY seriously, is just a lot of fun to be around. It could do without the smart-aleck boy with glasses, but that seems to be one of it's very, very few faults in this VERY entertaining movie.

My final entry would be, Tom & Jerry - A Nutcracker Tale. Out of all of the retellings of The Nutcracker, this one is my favorite. I am a fanboy of Tom & Jerry and when this movie appeared on TV, I was glued to it to the very end. It is truly one I look forward to every year. One I definitely don't miss no matter what.

So, what's yours?

We've got quite a few, my Mom is a very... enthusiastic about the holiday season. She includes a few that we have to watch and will gladly rip me away from what I'm doing to watch it. These include A Christmas Story, which I can almost quote word for word. A Charlie Brown Christmas, again word for word. Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Clause is Coming to Town. If we have time will throw in National Lapoon's: Christmas Vacation to the mix.

The Muppets Christmas Carol.

It's Michael Caine's finest hour. And the TV version usually cuts out the song that doesn't have any Muppets in it.

Nothing brightens up the Christmas season more.
Do'h, you beat me too it. When I worked at the movie theater, they asked us what our favorite "holiday" movie was, to put it on our seasonal name tags. My instant response was always Die Hard [http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-reasons-die-hard-is-the-best-christmas-movie-ever-made/].

Pretty much Santa Claus: The Movie for me since it's always on TV every Christmas.

Runner up would be the Muppet Christmas Caral and Scoorge!

None really. I always used to end up watching Christmas Story at least during the season when I had cable, but I haven't had cable for a long time. Watching it, or any other Christmas movie would require me to go out of my way to look for them and I can't be bothered.

Man, I'm surprised I'm going to be the first one to mention these, but if you guys go every year without seeing the Rankin-Bass Christmas Specials, then you guys are missing out.

I always watch It's a Wonderful Life every year, I ended up watching it for the first time a couple of years ago and loved it.

And of course they're the usual suspects; Home Alone, Elf and any version of a Christmas Carol that happens to be on, mainly just Muppets or Scrooged

Well I always start off with some of the classics, like the Home Alone series, Santa Clause Series, Die Hard, and the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

After that, I move on to more modern movies and specials like the Jim Carry How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Ed Edd n' Eddy's Jingle Jingle Jangle, Power Puff Girls' The Fight Before Christmas, and any other special that I used to watch when I was younger.

This year I might actually watch It's a Wonderful Life in its entirety.

All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku.
What? It's a Christmas movie.

Starting this year we will probably add Frozen.

Do alternate years for Sailor Moon 'S' and Oh! My Goddess! The Motion Picture.

Muppet Christmas Carol is a must, usually also catch Scrooge, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Muppet Family Christmas[footnote]Recorded from its original run, thankfully, seeing how the North American DVD and VHS releases omit about half a dozen of the songs for licensing reasons[/footnote], and It's A Wonderful Life.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Ref yet.

It's got one of my favorite quotes ever:

You know what I'm going to get you next Christmas, Mom? A big wooden cross, so that every time you feel unappreciated for your sacrifices, you can climb on up and nail yourself to it.

Well of course you have to watch Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas.

I really don't watch any, I'm starting to hate the holidays and get that depressed "Oh please, end this season quickly." thing.

Your answer almost covers all the ones I see.

OT: To add onto that, I usually see at least one version of A Christmas Carol. It's a Wonderful Life is a regular I love to watch as well. The old Claymation Christmas special is always on the to do list. Just watched Frosty a few days ago, only the first special, we don't talk about Frosty 2.

No to mention, I'll definitely watch all the Homestarrunner Christmas toons right before Christmas.
