I'm gonna get so spammed for this. I hate Chuck Norris, i cant stand him as an actor, or as a person and as far as his martial arts skills are concerned even there he is actually not to gifted just an average skilled martial artist.....so here's my question escapist. why the hell does everyone drop what they are doing and bow every time his name is mentioned? i personally don't see why he is so great.

How can you not like Chuck Norris? He's Walker, the Texas Ranger. His awesome is equal to that of the legendary McGuyver.

Of course no one cares. He is the actor by default in action/martial arts B-movies of the 80s. Think of him like the Steven Seagal of the last decade. That is part of what started the meme... the fact that he was an awful actor and average martial artist with one signature move just added to the ridicule of him being a normal badass.

Also, the joke on itself is actually pretty old... It even was part of a gag of John Goodman in SNL.

As many people have said, it's a joke. It makes fun of his movie/TV persona (esp Walker Texas ranger IIRC). He was portrayed as being some unbeatable tough guy that could do anything and the meme was tacking the piss out of that.

Personally I never hated the actor. I've been recently watching his Walker Texas Ranger show, and I found it actually not that bad. Also there is that iPhone side-scroller beat-them-up game based off him thats was surprisingly enjoyable.

I'll admit that I actually quite like some of the jokes about him. Maybe I just have a peculiar sense of humour.

Overrated has two r's. And names take a capital letter. Other people may like him, and I'm sure they are accepting of those who do not. As far as I know, he acted in B-movies and is an intense patriot, so I'm not a huge fan. Jokes are still funny, though. To a point.
