That's the trailer for the film, it's based on the first 3 books of Darren Shan's vampire series. I'm not so sure about the film, it seems americanised and more suited for a younger audience. Like, he's 16 in the film and in the start of the books Darren is about 12, in the books he's also in Britain.

Another thing is how Darren and Steve receive the leaflet in the trailer, completely different to the book. What do you think of this film?

Not true. Location is intentionally left ambiguous. I think, in the very first chapter of the first book, he plainly says that he is not going to say what country he is in.

Yes I do think it will suck, I just can't understand why they would get John C. Reily who is a comedian to be the vampire. I also think it will be another cliche vampire movie which everyone is sick of.

It looks ok. I'm definately going to see it. Any of the changes were probably made to mke the story smoother for filming.

Vampires and movies don't mix well.
Unless the vampire is a badass, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Oh yeah, sorry. It just seems that way since the author is from Britain.

Ireland, not Britain.

EDIT: The idea of an Irish vampire just dosn't work for some reason.

I'm sick to death (hahahah) of this interpretation of emo vampires. I wanna see classic, explode in the daytime, garlic-hatin' vampires who sleep in coffins and turn into bats. And live in castles. These are the new rules. Obey them.

I hate the Twilight vampires but Darren Shan's interpretation of vampire's i think is very well done.

Darren SHan did a really good job, but it was one step on the way to vampires becoming this "reimagined" thing. I don't understand why werewolves and vampires are apparently sexy. I wanna see an emo reimagining of the mummy and Frankenstein. Do it. Now.

I saw the trailer and I was sad. I read all these books a year or two ago, and loved them. This seems like some cheesy vampire comedy (John C. Riley as Crepsley....really?). The books had some serious violence in them, and were rather dark. I wanted a movie version, but I didn't realize that they would make it suck this hard.

There should really be some sort of flowchart for this sort of thing.

Is it a book adaptation --> YES --> Is the book a British book? --> YES --> It will suck.

It needs a few more lines but you get the idea.

Well I loved the books and his interpretation of Vampires was really well done.
But, I think the problem is that they're gonna make the Movie too cliche and more audience friendly so it won't be as dark as the books.

Probably has something to do with Darren Shan not being part of making the movie

Edit: After watching the trailer I think it COULD be good. It looks like one of those movies that relies more on girsly humour to begin with than the dark undertones but will get darker as the story continues.

It's a shame Darren and Steve look about 12 though

Yes, but only because Darren Shans work was never meant for the big screen, because it always leaves you going "WHAT THER HELL?!" at the end, or at least the last Cirque du' Freak, and the Demonata books 3-9. Also, did anyone else notice that they seem to have injected some kind of romantic subplot?

Friends, if there is anything I can give to you, it is the assurance that a movie, will NEVER be as good as the book. NEVER. If you really like a book... I mean REALLY like it, never see the movie, just don't. It will never live up to your expectations.
The only two movies I have ever seen that had come close... but still, not quite there... Stephen King's "Shawshank Redeption" and "The Green Mile". Everything else: shit compared to the book.
I almost threw up when I saw they were making a miniseries of Pillars of the Earth.

love...

John C Reilly as a SERIOUS vampire doesn't bode well for me. In the books he may crack a joke, but he is a very serious guy. Erm... Vampire.

Other than that I like the other actors.

The Lord of the Ring's movies were pretty good. But i do agree with you on that though, plus Shawshank Redemption is awesome.
