This is me trying to show the part that's a very intelligent fellow, and so I ask my fellow Escapist members if they wouldn't mind suggesting some classical pieces for me, please?

Here it goes: I listen to quite a bit of music, and classical pieces are some of my favorites. I do hear quite a bit, the ones that are overplayed in movies:

Mozart's "Mass Requiem in D minor", both "Lacrimosa" and "Introitus".
Mussorgsky's "Gnomus"
Samuel Barber's "Adagio For Strings"
Brindisi from "La Traviata"
O Mio Babbino Caro.

I enjoy most of it, but I would like to hear more. I'm trying to write a movie (In my spare time), and a lot of my scenes, as I picture them, are set to classical music, so I'd like to find quite a bit, to make my imagination flow beyond hearing "Adagio For Strings" over and over.

So, in a roundabout way of asking, Could somebody recommend some classical music for me? Just about any and all for all emotions.

Thank you all in advance.

My favourite piece of all time perhaps?

Debussy : Clair de lune

EDIT:

An alternate version featuring one of the finest violin players ever recorded...

Classical doesn't mean you're intelligent, it could just mean (not saying you are) you're a prick. But there's classical covers to Metallica's "Nothing else matters". If you like metal with classical, Avenged Sevenfold's album "Waking the Fallen" has a couple songs like "I won't see you tonight (part 1)", "And all things will end", and "Warmness of the Soul" (this one is on "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" album).

Another of my favourites is this little beauty from Frederic Chopin...

And my favourite rendition coming from Muse...

I had to respond to this. I chuckled, actually.

And the prick thing probably isn't that far off from me.

I guess I should have considered a different word.

I had to respond to this now too. Thank you, you're first one not to get offended by my "humor". I was actually prepared to get put on probation because someone couldn't take a joke. That has happened to me a couple times now on this site.

Try checking out The Planets by Holst. Jupiter is one of the better pieces of music ever written in my opinion. If you just want to find some good songs I would recommend picking up some sort of compilation CD. I'm not sure about your country but here we have Top 100 Symphony, Concerto and Opera CDs picked by fans of classical music and each has a large variety of good songs. If you can find something like that, pick it up.

Possibly overused, but still a personal favorite.

(Bugger, this might be a bit too early to be "Classical". If that's the case, sorry! D:)

The Bach Cello suites are some of my favorites, cello is my favorite stringed instrument.

The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto is another favorite. The Hampton String Quartet is worth a look.
