If you don't know, Claudio Sanchez is the lead singer of a band called Coheed and Cambria and a dozen little other oddly-named side projects.

Coheed and Cambria's songs all tell the story of a comic book series written by Claudio that involves a young man uniting a science-fiction world as a messanic figure to topple an evil empire.

However, the young's man name is Claudio, and he is constantly drawn bursting naked and heavily muscled from water tanks Wolverine-style.

This guy named his messiah protagonist after himself.
Does this strike anybody as extraordinarily vain?

Wow, that sounds really pathetic.

That reminded me of Lord British.

*Potential spoilers to C&C story ahead*

Well technically there are two Claudios. The main protagonist you mentioned and "the writer." The Writer Claudio is the one writing the story that makes up the protagonist Claudio's reality. The characters in the story are based off real people in The Writer's life, and the whole thing sorta leads up to protagonist Claudio rising up and trying to kill the writer in order to save his reality. So I almost see it as a creative story about examining and rebuking yourself. Or maybe I'm just a biased fan *shrug*

C&C are so far up their own arse its untrue. I went to see them a few years ago because my friend is a big fan and I like the support acts.

Half way through their set the pretentious bastards did an 8 odd minute instrumental. Even the fans stopped moving around and the whole room was either staring at their own shoes or going to the bar. It entertained no one except the band and their over inflated ego's.

Plus Claudio's voice is terrible. How can anyone take him seriously?
