As you may or may not know, Nintendo runs Club Nintendo, it's rewards program. If you attain 300 or 600 points in one fiscal year, you receive gold and platinum membership, respectively. These statuses are good for exactly one thing: on June 30th of each year, gold and platinum members receive gold and platinum rewards. After that, their membership resets, and they have another year to go for another membership. Platinum members have the choice of either the gold or platinum reward, and the gold members only gold.

This year, the gold reward was a fairly nice desktop calendar. However, the main attraction was the pin collection. It's a total of 25 Super Mario Bros. Pins arranged throughout 6 boxes that can be put together like a puzzle to make several iconic images from the game. As someone who IS a platinum member, I can safely say I cannot wait until I get it... except I might not get it until December.
Whilst it's really cool, it raises a question on why it wasn't a Zelda-themed prize, considering Mario's 25th anniversary was last year, and they're making such a big deal out of Zelda's 25th anniversary this year. However, I really have no room to complain.
Just in case you're wondering, 600 points is achievable anywhere from about 100 dollars in Nintendo product to about 400.
