I'd say CoD in general is a crass, tasteless product exploiting the very worst our species has to offer...

...so I think anything they're doing now is perfectly in keeping with that mentality. Don't be surprised to get figs from a fig tree, as the Stoics [probably] said.

Well, CoD was already turning WWII into a game. I tend to agree with Zhukov up there at post 4. Maybe disrespectful but games don't take violence and death seriously anyway.

If you think the Brits weren't having top bants with each other 3 days after landing you don't know Brits. They were probably singing "You'll never walk alone" to some poor chap who had his legs blown off for amusement.

^^^^ Joking response, but I really don't see how its more offensive than everything else in the game.
Judging from some (modern) British Soldiers I've met, this is 100% true. Its kind of the British way we deal with the stressful bad situations we encounter. I'll also echo what's been said about this being a game, and that running around shooting guys for the fun of it is inherently a bit disrespectful to those who went through that.

That said though, there is a bit of a difference between a group of soldiers making a joke of a bad situation they're in and people not in that group making a joke of it, especially when its a big company making money out of what they went trough. There should be a minimum level of tact involved when they are turning real events into a game or a movie or whatever, doubly so when there are people still alive who remember it.

No more disrespectful than people thinking that it was the western allies who brought down the Nazis instead of the Russians who did about 20 million deaths worth of heavy lifting to end the war. But I digress
