I had a really cool idea that they could combine the freeroaming and multi-character dynamics of GTA V and combine them with a marvel heroes style game (or maybe just the avengers). I know marvel heroes is already a multi-character game however if it used GTA V mechanics it would be amazing. Imaging switching to tony stark and hes chilling in his mansion or imagine switching to spidey as hes swinging through the streets. you then team up to take on various missions obviously selecting a team which is best suited to the task

If you guys could combine 2 pre-existing games, what would you choose and why?

Mod edit: Please remember to add why to avoid Low Content!!

I'd combine Portal and Half-Life 2 and make an amazing Half-Life 3 with gravity gun and portal gun!

Fire Emblem and Pokemon . . . wait, that's basically the Nuzlocke Challenge. Or Pokemon Conquest. Damn, and here I thought I was being original. Hold on, let met think of another one.

Ok, how about Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Pokemon? Instead of going to Gyms to earn badges, you go to various exotic and unique locations to acquire artifacts, within a different context than "battle gym leader". These artifacts can then be used to access a set of ancient ruins, where the game's legendary poster-boy will reside.

I wouldn't really change much about the core gameplay of Pokemon, but I'd give it something closer to Paper Mario's plot structure, as well as the wit, charm, and creativity.

Allow me to build a pair of text walls to make the two greatest games we will likely never see. Both are Comic Book adaptations and if either of these happen then my faith in the triple-A games industry will be renewed.

The Punisher has had a few games but none of them really captured his persona in the way the first movie did (War Zone however captured his persona from the NES and, PS2/Xbox games). I loved the Hitman games when I was younger and while I suck at them now, conceptually I still think they're brilliant. If you've never played a Hitman game, the setup is basically this: Kill person A (and possibly B, C and/or D) then get the Hell out of the level before you're discovered or, killed yourself. Agent 47 is dropped in the middle of a sprawling level populated with enemy NPCs, civilian NPCs and, multiple places to hide yourself, your equipment, places to enter/exit buildings aside from the main doors/windows, etc. The Punisher was made up as a character very much LIKE Agent 47 only he specifically targets mob bosses, mob families, etc. Now, I mentioned the Arkham series too didn't I? This is because hand-to-hand combat is virtually non-existent in Hitman and Frank "The Punisher" Castle is an ex Navy Seal ie; a human being who can murder the average person without a weapon. In Hitman, you can be spotted and murdered pretty easily. Adding in the awesome Arkham fighting system would make it so that less experienced players can mess up without feeling like they're completely fucked out of a decent rating. Another Arkham-Element that can be used in a Punisher game is the introduction of famous Marvel villains and/or heroes who Castle could fight and, potentially kill during his missions. He's a murderer after all so it's reasonable to expect people like Captain America or Spider-Man having a problem with Castle's methods. Also, the people he is trying to kill are wealthy mafiosos who can afford to hire protection from people like Iron Fist and, Luke Cage...probably...I could be wrong about those two since they are Heroes for Hire and not outright mercs...OH! DEADPOOL CAN BE A PERSON WHO IS HIRED TO PROTECT AGAINST CASTLE!!

Superman has had a pretty hard time; despite being one of the most easily recognized fictional characters of all time, he hasn't had much luck when it came to video gaming. Sure, there have been Superman video games but none of them have been all that good. One of the most interesting ideas came from the Superman game on the original Xbox; basically Superman was invincible but had to protect Metropolis from destruction (Metropolis having a health bar). My idea for the ideal Superman game has been explained before but dammit, it bares repeating: Superman is invincible but can be knocked around and, knocked down. From Spider-Man 2 I don't suggest bringing in web swinging that would be silly: I suggest bringing back the charge-mechanic. Charge up punches to go from rabbit-punch that winds a thug all the way up to punching an alien ship's hull hard enough to shatter it. It adds in the option of making an M-rated Superman game wherein you could potentially turn a human into a mass of bloody mist with a single punch if you hit them too hard. Aside from charging punches like this, every other main power associated with Superman would work like this: Laser-eyes, Ice Breath, Super Speed and, Flight would utilize a way to charge them up before unleashing those powers whereas tapping the associated button would use a weaker version of those same attacks/abilities (except flight which would just be hopping...and laser vision would be x-ray vision if you just tap the button...and ice-breath/super breath would require precise timing).

Anyway on to Metropolis: The city should be fully destructible and on next gen consoles, there's no way at to justify that not being a key feature. When a terrorist group detonates a bomb or The Toyman unleashes a mech, buildings should partially explode and eventually crumble if they sustain enough damage. When Brainiac or Doomsday invade Earth and wreck shit up, the scale of damage should utterly destroy large areas of the city including partially damage surrounding buildings. Once Superman has defeated high profile villains and saved the day, restoration begins and that's when you have the choice to take control of Lex Luthor, who uses his funds to rebuild and even fortify Metropolis during peace times. Even if you ignore Lex, Metropolis will always be building upon itself if it's fine and, rebuilding after instances no matter how you have Lex allocate funds.

The game shouldn't have levels or chapters but should just be an organic sandbox. Superman flies or, runs around Metropolis, protecting citizens from petty crimes which can and do happen all the time (muggings, car theft, etc). Every 10 to 90 real-world minutes (depending on difficulty) the game randomly selects an instance which can range from something minor like Solomon Grundy showing up downtown to, something major like Superboy Prime suddenly materializing and being really pissed off and, murder-thirsty about it. If you can't sort out the instance in time then the next one happens so you enter a scenario where you're potentially struggling to take out Mongol when BAM, Darkseid appears via boom-toob and takes out a high profile landmark within the city. Since Superman can't die in this game though, the game won't truly be lost until Metropolis has been destroyed. This is the Superman game that will revolutionize not only Superman but possibly even the medium of gaming. It will never happen though because of a mixture of difficulty to program, difficulty to build up, difficulty to make it an M-rated game, etc...

The second one is a text wall but it's also the game that I most want to see in my lifetime. I will never see that Superman game and that kind of makes me sad...the closest I'll get will be trying to find or set up a tabletop RPG with similar themes but that's just not the same.

The freerunning/combat from Assassin's Creed/the Batman Arkham games (I count these two together because they're very similar in my eyes)

COMBINED WITH

The random loot drops/enemy variety from Diablo/Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance.

Go on, tell me that doesn't sound %$@&ing awesome.

X3+Battlezone2
How awesome would it be?
Freedom in space- build manufacturing plants and defensive platforms, fly around and build your own armada
Freedom on the planets and planetoids- construct buildings and mining facilities, ride and fly vehicles
And all this in 1st person- you can lead boarding parties, you can defend your ship yourself, or simply explore planets and other objects of interest.
(although in all fairness full combination list would look something like that- X3+Parkan2+Battlezone2+Shattered Horizon)

For kicks I just thought of the last two games I've played. State of Decay and Black Flag.

That actually would be awesome. Sailing around a zombie apocalypse smack bang in the middle of the Golden Age of Piracy.

The survivors would be the crew, the home base your ship which could be upgraded. Bigger ships need more survivors but have more space for facilities. You could play as any of the crew with their own different traits and skills.

You'd fight other ships that are trying to steal your supplies. When you needs to salvage you'd row into a harbour and use parkour to try and avoid and escape hordes of zombies (watch out ferals can climb).

Mass Effect and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Or Mass Effect and The Banner Saga.

Look, what I'm trying to say is that some needs to make a turn-based, squad level strategy game in with the ME setting and characters.

and mass effect and homeworld, if you read the codex you notice that somebody invested a lot of brain syrup into figuring out rules for space combat in the ME universe

I could totally agree to that or just more TBS in general but looks like we will be getting a bunch soon.

As for my game, Spider man 2 plus skyrim. Imagine fighting dragons that don't have to be idiots because you are highly mobile and moving form in the third dimensions as well. Now I am thinking you character has something more like 3d move gear from attack on titan, than actually being spider man but of games I have played siderman two plays the best with that type of controls.

Kotor and Fable. story and setting from Kotor played to a fast paced entertaining combat of fable with a fair amount of humor mixed into the seriousness of it all. Jedi Force and melee fit almost perfect with the fable spells. (fable even had a "force push" spell lol)

second option Dishonored with Assassins Creed. Make Dunwall a completely open sprawling world ala Brotherhood's Rome with the Assassins and Templars reworked to fit into it, make Corvo's powers based off of a device like the apple, the outsider is a precursor who survived the genocide and now acts like a god. the abbey of the everyman Are the Templars taking over and killing the empress was to put a Templar on the throne. Corvo must uncover the Templar Order, become an Assassin and lay waste o their plans... and that was all off the cuff with out any real thought i can only imagine where it would go if you really DID put some thought into it. yes there are already some big similarities between the two but i think a cross over would work well. story and world taken from AC and game play and atmosphere of Dishonored.

Shadow of the Colossus+The Legend of Zelda=a massive, free-roaming overworld with dazzling environments and scant enemies. Race over the hills on Epona, fighting off the occasional Peahat or Armos. Every so often, you come across a ruin/arena wherein lies your next target. Do a bunch of Zelda-esque puzzles and SotC climbing to reach the boss room itself. Fight the colossus. Kill the colossus. Wake up in the Temple of Time, Dormin gives you a new item and a new target. Repeat.

I dream about this game every day.

Pokemon and The Legend of Zelda. Just imagine it. Pokemon and trainer fighting in tandem with each other, completing puzzles, saving the princess, and proving to everyone that you're the very best, like no one ever was even though it was foretold by legend.
Ninja'd on the second post...

Though for a bit of a twist, I would integrate the Legendary Pokemon and their back stories and abilities into the Zelda world rather than having a bunch of normal Pokemon to battle and capture. Zelda already has lots of trios of great spirits or deities, Pokemon is full of legendary trios you could make whole stories about.

I've wanted this for a long time and have been advocating as such for a while. Pokemon + a battle system like with the Tales series or maybe Kingdom Hearts, a fully 3D action RPG. A story with some more mature themes but not outright dark or anything, something with all ages appeal.

The Force Unleashed fast paced dynamic combat plus the open world style of the Bethesda games.

I had a similar idea way back that I even posted a long time ago: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.320017-Pick-a-superhero-and-tell-how-you-would-make-a-great-Superhero-game-from-them#13066742

To sum it up though, I don't like the idea of Superman being invincible, but I don't like how they make it so enemies that couldn't beat Superman on their best day somehow beat him. I'd like Superman to be tough, very tough, but not unbeatable, and to only fight against opponents that might actually have a chance against him. As the post shows I even came up with a system of how kryptonite would work.

Ace Attorney and every other game ever - just so whenever I am annoyed/bored with someone speaking, I can immediately interrupt them by shouting OBJECTION and slamming my hands on my desk.

Bioshock Infinite and some sort of rpg like Dragon Age or Baldurs Gate - so that the story they had to tell in bioshock could have a chance to be told in a way that actually works... a running narrative throughout, instead of burying you in the avalanche of story at the end.

Gears of War and Zelda, so that I can chainsaw Navi in half. gg.

Pokemon and Saints row 4. Just so I can dodge grass by jumping over it, to avoid random battles, and gain the ability to best people in pokemon battles and then seal the deal by kicking them in the crotch.

NHL and Fifa - so that when I get annoyed when playing against Ronaldo in football/soccer, I can chuck my gloves off and punch him in his smug, little face.
