Im quite new to all the comic/graffic novel uiverse and i'm hoping you guys could give me some sugestions. Anyways i already have the "Watchmen","punisher. welcome back, Frank", "Punisher.born", and "Punisher.widowmaker.". My favourites are the punisher comics so i hope for some sugestions in that matter, but im not wreally into sin city, because if you seen the movie you senn them all. I like serious, original comics, the more realistic and original the better! But i guess i could like some unrealism too, if only the story line was good, o yeah one more thing, im not rely into manga so dont bother sugesting anything in that matter. In anyway thanks for your help!

p.s. Whats the difference betwean a graffic novel and a comic?

The Killing Joke. It's old, but gives you an insight on the Joker's character. I even sympathized with him as I read through this.

I've got a great one, I'll see if I can find it...an -awesome- graphic novel called: A is for Apple. It's got great illustrations -and- teaches you how to spell simple words. :p

On a more serious note.

A comic is what you generally refer to when you talk about the 'soft' paperback comics. A graphic novel is the collected format of these, often with a glossy or card cover. However, a stand alone novel in the second format is still a graphic novel.

Also...some people do refer to 'comics' in paperback form as 'graphic novels' due to the connotation of comics being seen as a childish medium. Less of that nowadays.

Recommendations:

Hellboy by Mike Mignola is another good series, which if you like you might also like The Goon by Eric Powell. The former is a supernatural/weird tales type series with everything from zombies to cultists to Nazi heads in a jar. The Goon is similar, but with more a focus on the just plain weirdness of it all, read: Communist Airborne Mollusk Militia.

For something a little more serious, and far...far...far, more surreal: The Maxx by Sam Keith.

The Ronin is a very awesome graphic novel by the same guy who did The Dark Knight Returns. Try it, I won't tell you anything about it, just try it.

One that I heard is supposedly the "Watchmen" of supervillains is "Wanted." (which the movie with baboon lips is LOOSELY based on).

I've heard that Sin City is pretty good. Personally the only graphic novel I've read is Watchmen, but I will say that that is great.

Actually it was mentioned in the OP...although, I can see why it would be missed. ^^'

Watchmen is good.
Goon and Hellboy are two series that I find really good.
Sam & Max is an excellent surreal comic.
Rex Mundi is kind of cool.
Red star? Possibly.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is good too, as is Tom Strong and TOP10.
The War of the Worlds and Scarlet Traces are pretty nice too.
V for Vendeta is also a very good graphic novel.

I found Wanted to be really shallow and the entire thing was making fun of the reader.

My list would be: Criminal, Scalped, Sleeper, Maus, Hey Mister, Acme Novelty Library, Doom Patrol (Grant Morrison's run), The Filth, Seaguy, Bone, Thunder Bolts (Warren Ellis). Zot! Exterminators, Testament, Blankets, Fun Home, Sandman, Dark Knight returns and Strikes Again (though I might be the only person who liked Strikes Again) RAW From Hell, 1602, American Splendor, Animal Man (Grant Morrison,)Alais.

Out of print: Moonshadow, Seven Miles a Second, Hitman, Plastic Man, Barry Ween

There are probably more I'm forgetting but these are about it.

30 Days of Night
leviathan
a.b.c warriors
(any of them)
Akira (get the westernised version, all the vloumes)
Dead Space (when it arrives, web version was very good)
Alien/Predator comics (better than every film about either since Alien 3)
War of the Worlds the Version by D'Israeli Also check out
The Vort/Lobster Random When they come out as stand alone books, also involving D'Israeli

V for Vendetta and Dark Knight Returns are good superhero graphic novels with a different viewpoint on the genre.

Jimmy Corrigan is interesting, quietly heartbreaking and bleak both in tone and art style, but its the best "comic as art" novel I have read. This is as realistic as it gets for a comic imo.

Maus is good too, although I think its overated, it still tells a good, emotional story.

Sandman is briliant if you are well versed in mythology, although as it has references to almost every entertainment medium you would get some of the nods to other works anyway. Even if you are not, its still a good read.

the difference between graphic novels and comic books is that graphic novels have a single story with a beginning, middle, and end. comic books only have story arcs which end with some sort of resolution that mostly doesnt end the conflict, so there is room for more in the future. a simpler way to tell is, if it is about superheroes, its a comic book, but there are obviously exceptions to this rule.
