Committing Suicide: Could you do it?

Let's say, for arguments sake, that the Zombie apocalypse is upon us (we all know it's going to happen sooner or later).

You're boxed in a room with no supplies and a standard-issue handgun with 2 clips of ammunition.
[sub]Remember, it's hard to wait out the apocalypse if there's no food to be had![/sub]

There's a horde of zombies outside, and you've seen what they do to people before they die. So you're left with three options; either wait it out and hope zombies starve to death before you do, try to fight your way out, or turn the gun on yourself.

The above is of course just one random scenario. So here's my question to ya;

Given a situation where you face imminent death, be it by starvation, zombie -or nuclear apocalypse, or the chance of survival is infinitesimally small - would/could you take your own life to spare yourself any unnecessary pain?

No. Zombies can't go up stairs, and my room is on the second floor. I'll be fine. Two clips of pistol ammo? Okay, and all the random crap in my room, I have plenty of weapons to carve my way down to the kitchen and get something. No problem. I can turn a bedside cabinet into a weapon. My Warhammer models can take out a zombified eye. And never underestimate someone with a shitload of art supplies. We will fuck your shit up.

If it's any random event that would cause a slow, painful death, I don't think I could. I'm already in constant pain, what's a little more? And there's the odd chance someone will come through and help me.

In the above scenario I'd probably wait until the zombies came inside before emptying all rounds save one into the undead horde and taking myself out with the final bullet, but just shooting myself right away seems like such a waste.

On a more serious note, I have never been in a situation where there was anything at all to be gained from ending my life.

Nah. My room's on the second floor, and as Blue pointed out, zombies have problems with stairs. Plus I have a guitar which would make a nice weapon, a sabre, which while a little dull, would still function well as a zombie killer. Plus plenty more things at my disposal. I'll be fine, I'll just wait for nature to take care of them.

No, I'd rather go out fighting, I'd still die, but in the case of zombies, I'd take some with me, hopefully helping everyone else a little.

Well if there was no hope of survival and continuing my life meant that I would suffer (or in the case of zombies, someone else would suffer) I think I could take my own life. It might take a bit while I swallow what I'm about to do, but I think I could then "eat" my gun.

Indeed they have. It's hard to 'wait it out' with no supplies. I've highlighted it now, so people'll easier see it.

So, yeah, if the future is Zombie Apocalypse, I probably would have died a while before this situation.
